Its the perfect movie, you have Neidlemeyer as the a-hole ROTC Nazi commando, Dean Woermer who is easy to hate, young pretty sorority girls who are only interested in straight, clean cut all American frats, the collection of misfits in Belushis group and "Flounder" who has his brothers new car slightly altered, a horse that meets fate and an all black nightclub that is a classic.

Straws obviously most on this damn board don't remember great movies from the 1980s....that quote about the Germans bombing Pearl Harbor was made by John Belushi in "Animal House", the greatest comedy about 1960s college frats ever made.

Its a classic and everyone should watch the movie. The comment made by Belushi was when this totally renegade frat house had been expelled from school and everyone was depressed....Belushi tried to rally the "troops".
You will die laughing watching this flick.

A young hot Karen Allen is in it and that's worth the price of admission right there. Its about what frats do: drink like hell, chase women, fail classes and commit mayhem.

Hey, my response was to inform Straws WHY I used the analogy that the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor because he thought I didn't realize it was Japan.

One of the advantages of UF sucking last year was that the seating was more comfortable in the upper levels of the stadium because not as many people were there. I was able to bring my daughter to a few games last year.

There is reason Trask’s odds of starting are so profitable. No body who is willing to bet money actually believes the guy will start .

You could get ride of this TJ if you actually believe Trask would be the starter . But you know Franks is the favorite to start even if you don’t like him . He must not be to bad because you still sound confident that the team will be much better then expected .

Why didn’t Trask start for his high school team . Wasn’t it that they ran a offense that needed a athletic QB ?

You're using a betting line with Jake Allen listed in the odds who is no longer with the team. His odds are 0. That this doesn't deter you from using it as an argument shows more about your intelligence than it does anyone else.

There are many types of spread offenses and different Quarterbacks to run them. In Manvel where Trask played, they preferred a quicker QB. D'eriq King is 180 - 190 pounds but runs very quickly.

Mullen's spread offense calls for a strong, big, bruising Quarterback.

238, 6'2''
233, 6'3''
227, 6'5''
238, 6'5''
230, 6'5''

Tell me which is Dak Prescott, Nick Fitzgerald, Tim Tebow, Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask.

I'm fine with being wrong if we go ahead and decide that Franks is the guy to roll with -- I don't think it'll stick like it didn't stick last year, but I'm pretty confident that Trask will end up starting or take over. He's got the perfect build and style for a Mullen offense.

Is this actually something I can put some money on? Or just a made up Vegas thing for people to talk about. If it’s reall I am seriously thinking of putting 500 dollars down on Trask.

You might wanna save that $500. Below is an article by Chris Harry who is EMPLOYED by UF, and although he writes fluff articles, he IS closer, much closer to the team and coaches than any media member. He obviously thinks Franks will be the starter.

Charleston Southern, just 38 days away.

Time for our "Countdown to Camp" series previewing the position groupings on offense, defense and special teams, as the Gators look to bounce back from a 4-7 season marred by another unproductive offense, some frustrating and close midseason losses, and a coaching change.

What better place to start than under center?

QUARTERBACKS

They're back: Feleipe Franks (6-5, 227, R-Sophomore); Kyle Trask (6-5, 239, R-Sophomore).

Fresh faces: Emory Jones (6-2, 192, Freshman).

Feleipe Franks completed 54.6 percent of his throws for 1,438 yards, nine touchdowns and eight interceptions as a redshirt freshman in 2017.

Overview: The Gators used three quarterbacks (and started three) last season. The overall results and inability to field a quality passing attack was pretty much on par with what the program has showed since saying goodbye to Tim Tebow eight seasons ago, as Florida finished last in the Southeastern Conference it total offense and 110th in the nation in 2017 at just 335.9 yards per game, including 102nd in passing (179.5 ypg). Franks won the job as a redshirt freshman by out-performing fourth-year junior Luke Del Rio and Malik Zaire, the Notre Dame grad transfer, during the preseason. He eventually was replaced by Del Rio, who lasted one start before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury. Another candidate, Trask, broke his foot in the preseason and was done for the year. Trask definitely would have gotten a look, but wasn't cleared medically until the season was over. Fast forward to the spring. Jones was a four-star prospect who flipped from a commitment to Ohio State, signed early with the Gators and enrolled for the spring semester. Now, there are just three QBs on scholarship on the entire roster, after Del Rio graduated and freshman Jake Allen transferred to Dartmouth during the offseason. So, Franks is far and away the most experienced of the three, and the only QB with any collegiate statistics. In eight starts, Franks completed 125 of 229 passes (54.6 percent) for 1,438 yards, nine touchdowns and eight interceptions. As everyone saw at times (certainly against Tennessee), the arm strength stands out. Case in point: Mullen was mic'd up for a spring practice when he saw Franks, under pressure, scramble from the pocket, slip to his right and — off balance and off his back foot — flip a bomb downfield that wideout Van Jefferson caught for a touchdown. Perfect throw. Mullen covered his mouth and remarked to an assistant, "He just threw that 50 yards!" Mullen recruited Franks to Mississippi State. In fact, the Bulldogs were the second to offer Franks after Clemson, so there is familiarity there beyond what Mullen learned in the spring. The biggest thing for Franks, and what will be an ongoing topic through training camp and on into the season, will be his trust and comfort level in the offensive line. Can he get to a point where he can go through progressions (at least more than one), and not feel so much pressure that he's taking the first read or just taking off to run when nothing's there? Though Franks was billed as a classic dropback/pocket passer, he is an underrated runner, demonstrated by that electrifying 78-yard jaunt against Texas A&M (the longest run by a UF quarterback in program history). In Mullen's spread offense, mobility and throwing on the run will be pivotal. Those were traits Trask was thought to maybe hold on edge, but the only live bullets he has faced since arriving at Florida are in scrimmages and spring games — and no one is hitting QBs in those settings. Trask, in fact, hasn't seen much of any football at any level, having sat behind D'Eriq King (now starting at the University of Houston) his entire prep career in Texas. He has good size and arm strength, but basically no resume. Jones also has mobility, but showed during the spring he is far from a polished passer, especially when it comes to accuracy.

Kyle Trask redshirted during both the 2016 and '17 seasons, the latter due to a foot injury, but got the bulk of the backup reps in the spring.

If the season started today: Franks is the overwhelming favorite to be under center when the Gators line up against Charleston Southern, barring an injury or what would have to be considered unforeseen circumstances. An example of the latter would be a monumental spurt in development from either Trask or Jones during the four weeks of camp that would have to overtake what Franks brings to the table, especially on the experience front.

Florida fans, for whatever reason, want to pump Franks but Trask is a more natural QB and has the style of running Mullen prefers. Better vision, can throw while being hit and is much stronger.

That line is derived from someone who has no idea what the QB situation at Florida is. If it's 50 - 50, Trask will start.

Straws how much do you blame facilities for our recruiting problems. I mean have you seen our athletic dorms? When you compare our dorms to Clemson and Bama, its like army barracks going up against the Ritz Carlton.

This is gonna take a while:

I think Mullen finishes stronger than he begins, and I think he relies on results.

I think our biggest problem is that we don't outright just throw bags at recruits nor players, and it's obvious because our players who get busted always seem to be connected with things that make money. Credit card scams, gamblers, you don't see these types of problems at UGA or Alabama because they are obviously getting paid, and I think Tennessee is starting to do it as well -- almost all the coaches from Saban's tree seem to suddenly recruit way beyond their capacity should permit them.

Facilities are being upgraded, so it's obvious that the coaching staff felt like it was holding them back a little bit.

I honestly don't think we're going to get recruits unless we start dominating again, because Florida just seems universally opposed to payment. We were literally the only championship basketball team not investigated and a lot of people say Donovan left because it was too stressful to coach against people who were obviously cheating when we wouldn't permit him to do the same.

I want to see how it turns out on NSD.

You guys are crazy if you think it's going to be anyone other than Jones or Trask.

quote:

"One of the things that I do like that Kyle does is he's very conscious about trying to do what we ask him to do," Mullen said. "He's got great size within the pocket. There's a benefit to size at the quarterback position; a lot of people like it because it's just easier to see with things. He does a great job of staying tall in the pocket and seeing what's going on to be able to distribute the ball."

quote:

"He's got a bunch of arm talent in that he can make throws at different angles on different levels and be accurate with it," Mullen said of Trask. "The one great thing that he showed, too, is he's not Michael Vick back there running around. But he's a very willing runner and he runs physical as a big guy. He’s more than capable of doing everything we need him to do to be really successful at it.

Straws I don't care who the QB is. I like razing your butt though with clickbait.

You hold that article about practice day 1 near and dear to your heart, cause no one knows what Mullen will do. But just remember last year when everyone on this board were yelling to the rooftop that they didn't want Del Rio and wanted Franks..and I was loud and clear that Franks wasn't ready...he was too skinny and we needed Del Rio's experience.

If Mullen decides walk on Erit Von Sondman from Iceland is the starter...then I would be ok until proven otherwise.

I am more concerned with how do we jump to top 15 in rushing stats from 75th? That will be the barometer of how we did. Mullen likes to pound the ball and I am all for it. We threw way too many deep passes last year and the play calling did not help. No matter who our QB is, facing too many 3rd and longs will make them look awful.

I know folks don't look at big pictures...but just think what could have been last year: 4 more total points against LSU & A&M, lack of drama with Mac and we could have been 10-2. The team gave up just before the WLOCP.

But we didn't, he did, and they did and the result was 4-7.

You say this every time while failing to remember that I also said this regarding Franks last year. Literally every time. You can make that genetic fallacy with everyone else on the board outside of literally me.

Just take CDM's words for it.

Straws, I have stated in generic terms, everybody wanted Franks... it doesn't imply that you did. You are not everyone...you are special and Straws is one of favorite posters...although bull headed at times

I know, but I'm saying it doesn't actually help you in this case as an aid to this conversation specifically.

I've liked certain Quarterbacks and they've gone off to be successful: Grier and Driskel.

Driskel played terribly (had a better sophomore season than Franks) -- Franks is a RS, I know, but that was still his sophomore season -- but I knew he actually HAD the gift.

He played behind the worst line we've ever had, and the receivers dropped passes, regularly jogged routes, the team was in complete disarray, but I saw it. I knew that Driskel could get it done.

I have never felt that way about Franks. Ever. I have never even thought he would be good. Run-of-the-mill, maybe, but never have I seen a Quarterback with so few QUarterbacking skills. People literally can't name one category that he does "elite". His grades...let's just run through them.

Pass Power: A+
Pass Accuracy: C
Motion: B+
Footwork: F
Vision: F
Pocket Presence: F
Pocket Awareness: F
Defense Awareness: F
Pass Protection: F

It doesn't matter if he's only had bad coaches, it doesn't matter if McElwain and Nussmeier were as bad as they were -- Muschamp is getting it done with Bentley. MUSCHAMP.

If you disagree with that grading, please, let me know where and why.
