Fields maybe replacing Fromm. There are a bunch of SEC schools with two QBs better than Franks. Miss State and Texas A&M.

I just wanna QB that can hit slants, flats, drags, outs, and the occasional seam route consistently. The only one I have seen that has that ability is Trask.

He's not flashy, but at least he can hit those simple passes. I feel like it's 50/50 with Franks, and I think only Treon was that bad at hitting shorter routes.

Jones might at least be ready by game 6 in case Trask is bad, but we'd just be rolling the dice with Franks.

If Trask is a willing runner, then he is QB1 IMO.

We will see, and I honestly hope you're right...I welcome the change. I'm just not going to get my mind set on starting next season with a new QB just to get let down. We've been experiencing that feeling (wanting a change and not getting it) since Urban left.

He obviously doesn't have a ton of tape, but he ran the read option in high school and his experience came from the spread. He's a more natural runner than Franks (it's hard not to be) but at least we know that he's going to at least look for receivers if the first route isn't there for him.

I just really hope their bodies are ready to actually run the ball.

Franks is much more of a willing runner than Trask. Once Franks makes the decision to run, he is good at it. For Franks, it is all about the shitty decision process.

But IS he good at it? He doesn't get up field which is his biggest problem, and has no real awareness of where the lines are. If you watch tape on his sacks, it's not really because the line is really awful as much as it is he just doesn't know where he is vs. where the defensive lineman is.

When he does choose to run, he makes a beeline for the sideline and just decides to not throw it away (for whatever reason).

No one really watched his highlights coming out of high school, but if you guys have time to kill check them out. He also has a 21 yard run highlighted and that style is much closer to Mullen's offense than even Jones. The heavy QB right up the middle.

Last I heard Trask is up to about 245. He definitely has the size.

The last I had heard was 238 but goddamn that's a big boy. I also heard recently that the team isn't taking breaks at all, they're right back to exercising in spite of the "time off". I'm super hyped for our guys this year.

Trask was in the game in HS because they were up big. I did not see him run in the spring game. Franks did, the only thing he did well, along with Jones. Trask still has to prove that he is a willing runner.

1. Trask was playing against a way better Defensive Line.

2. Franks ran twice...like literally two times and no one could tackle him.

If Franks ran the way he did in the Spring Game, we'll lose him by game 3. He runs really upright, the long strides make it harder to change directions stop/go, all that jazz. Watch Trask's runs on his film, man. He had a few runs during the scrimmages (people reported it) but the Spring Game should be more about passing than running.

I thought it was kind of well known that they were gonna focus more on the passing game in the spring because that’s were the work was needed. We are set in the run game.

Trask is the only QB not to run. There were times when he should have, like the fumble.

Edit: This is going off memory but Franks, Jones, and Allen all ran with the ball. Trask did not.

I think that Trask will be the starter. He is the better QB. The only thing that could get Franks to start is if Trask is not a willing runner.

I also remember after the 2016 game that there was talk about how he was gonna push Appleby for that #2 spot. People should go back and watch that game, he was running really good in that game.

ETA: talking about the 2016 spring game.

Franks has never looked in rhythm outside of maybe two games (Vanderbilt and UAB). He has shown zero progress and just because he has experience doesn't mean anything when it's all bad experience. If he had shown me even a molecule of progress, I'd be with you guys. But he looked the exactly the same. We should give TRask and Jones split reps, see how they respond and ride with one of them. Franks is d o n e at QB for Florida, guys. Take my word on it.

Don’t we have a new coaching staff ? Did Franks beat out Trask last year under a coach that you believed in and wanted to return this year ? I don’t get your hatred for Franks . If Franks is the starter that says a lot about Mullen’s opinion of Franks and the other QBs . All of the other QBs are a better fit in this offense. What kind of record do you expect with and with out Franks ? I think we are looking at a 8-4 season no matter who starts .

I was done with McElwain after the death threats controversy, and honestly he never looked like he wanted to be part of the team after the Michigan game.

That aside: Did, beleived, wanted are all past tense, because you conventiently left out how Trask smoked his salmon this year. First and second scrimmage and then was with the 1's in the Spring Game.

I'm anti Franks because he doesn't accept responsibility, makes excuses and never looks like he's been studying. FSU game -- 3 picks and a fumble.

First scrimmage, 3 picks and a fumble.

He's a fricking 4* who got his lunch eaten by a 2* (admittedly there were other circumstances, but I digress). I'd rather see anyone else out there other than Franks, because if we're going to pick someone who can only run the ball we might as well roll with Emory or Toney.
