Good news for both receivers! Can't wait to see the spread offense in the swamp again!

You're a defensive coordinator, you see a 4 WR package.

Cleveland, Grimes, Toney, Jefferson with Davis/Scarlett at HB. Good luck covering that look. We still need the quarterback that can get it out to them, but I have faith.

If we get Burrow, oh man.

Ohhhhh man.

Don’t forget about Jacob Copeland, I think he can come in and have an immediate impact behind Toney. But yeah if we get Burrow....WATCH OUT

If Grimes and Jefferson are available that is huge.

Overall our WR looked much crisper in the spring game than any time since Billy G left. Route running was much sharper. WRs went back for the ball in scramble situations instead of letting the DB cut in front of them.

This is the key to the whole season IMO. What good are excellent routes and great hands if the qb continuously throws the ball behind or in the dirt while needlessly scrambling.

Franks will start at QB IMO...but I wouldn't be surprised to see Trask or Jones take over by mid-season (my money is on Jones).

It will not be Franks unless something crazy happens. Former players, reporters, writers etc. etc. all say Trask is likely to start. Stronger in the pocket, better awareness and vision and better footwork for a QB.

Jalon Jones will be special. I'm not sold on Emory, but Jalon's a name everyone should keep their eyes on. Kid's special.

Emory will become a way better passer than Hurts ever thought about being, especially with the coaching of Mullen. As a matter of fact, I think Emory’s mechanics are already better than Hurts. For him it’s, can he read a defense and does he understand the offense enough to know where to go with the ball after his first read is taken away (something Franks still has no idea how to do).

Do you mean he will go 24-2 as a starter? I would be good with that.

Unless he fixes his locking onto receivers, footwork, pocket presence, pocket awareness, general awareness, defense reading, his understanding of blocking schemes, protecting the ball, his incapacity to throw short and intermediate passes and lastly but most importantly: his vision to actually find wide open receivers (he did it the frick again in the Spring Game), then it will be Trask or Jones.

I have no idea why people break their backs to champion Franks who failed, fails and will fail to show any progress from Game 1 last year to the end of Spring Camp. He's a bad quarterback, move on.

Not trying to champion Franks by any stretch...he's just the only QB we currently have with any real play time. That's why you give him the start, and mix Trask/Jones in the game plan to get them some real experience. Last thing you want to do is throw them out cold and get them gun shy if they mess up.

We have Charleston Southern, Kentucky and Colorado State. That's hardly throwing anyone to the wolves. It's an FCS, a team we've beaten ever year since before I was born (literally) and a Bobo led Colorado State that went 7 - 6 in the last three years.

Jones or Trask would have three games to get into rhythm.

Franks has never looked in rhythm outside of maybe two games (Vanderbilt and UAB). He has shown zero progress and just because he has experience doesn't mean anything when it's all bad experience.

If he had shown me even a molecule of progress, I'd be with you guys. But he looked the exactly the same. We should give TRask and Jones split reps, see how they respond and ride with one of them. Franks is d o n e at QB for Florida, guys. Take my word on it.

So… if Mullen goes with Franks are you going to call for his head?

I wouldn't call for his head, but I would be a lot more worried. I've been pretty vocal about him not pursuing Matt Corral for whatever reason, who is way more prepared to play than anyone we have on roster.

All we need is someone to throw short passes and not turn the ball over with the occasional threat downfield.

Franks has zero of those qualities, and if Jones/Trask seriously can't do it any better than Franks then I will ave even worse concerns than I had before.
