I'd welch on any ban bet from the Gator board, anyway. It's pretty stupid.
What are the odds for the next HC of Florida from everyone else?
I'm pretty high on Mullen, Frost or Campbell.

Willie Taggart now a real possibility for Gators. He’s been contacted; boosters actively discussing (Reporting w/@sportsDen_live)

No way it's Taggart. He's already doing poorly at Oregon.

No way a guy with a losing record in his career is hired at Florida.

I like Taggart but I honestly don't think the big UF money is ready for a black head coach. It shouldn't be an issue, but I don't see it.
Between that and the fact that I think Frost is just straight up the better guy for the job, I think (hope) it ends up being Frost

It's gotta be Frost or Mullen. I don't know if anyone would be upset by a black HC (we have one right now as we speak), but it's gotta be a homerun hire -- the AD has to know this.
Football is what brings the University the money, we have to use money to make money, and we can't go after another unproven guy.
Frost has the right offense and is doing wonders at UCF, he knows the state really well and can obviously gin up guys who do well in his system.
Mullen is my pick, just because he's a flat out goddamn good coach. Maybe a bit of a prick, but he's done wonders at Moo and he's already been a coach for the Gators.

Taggart took over a bad Oregon team that only won 4 games the year before, he's already exceeded last years win total. If he was still at USF there is a good chance they are undefeated and he is a name everyone is talking about right now and may be the fan favorite.
He has a history of going into tough situations turning programs around and his record is a reflection of that. Went to Western Kentucky where they had lost 26 straight games and had a winning record by year 2 and took them to their first ever bowl game. Took over a disaster at USF from Skip Holtz and built them into a 10 win team and left behind a great program for Strong. Walked into a mess at Oregon and recruiting like crazy for them, they actually rank ahead of us right now in recruiting rankings.
Taggart has major Florida ties, is an excellent recruiter, has an exciting offense and a lot of HC experience. I've also been a fan of his staff selections, bringing in guys like Jim Leavitt and Mario Cristobal. Not my first choice, but he's a guy worth considering when you look into him.
For those that don't like it, he's the first rumored contact so it's pretty safe bet that he's not the actual target.

This is the kind of negative shite we don't need at Florida.
We have a black HC right now, Shannon was the first guy they immediately turned to to take over the team, and to say we have a racist-funded institution is just stupid.

it may have had something to do with champ getting the job over charlie a while back which is a shame. i don't think that's why taggart shouldn't be in the conversation. there's just too many candidates that are better. he fits oregon real well because they have a hard time recruiting.

This is why some of us want Kiffin
Per Wiki
Kiffin led the Vols to a 7–6 record in 2009, an improvement from their 5–7 record in 2008. The Vols increased their offensive output by more than 60 percent in 2009 with Kiffin calling the offensive plays.

I don't give a good damn what color the HC is....if he takes to the SECGs and wins a title every now...I'm good.
Honestly I have spent some time at fishing tournaments with Strong and I prefer Shannon. Not that I know them both well, but look at the shitstorm at Texas...he has Taggerts players and recruiting well...but Shannon is more personable and can sway recruits imo. Very positive (as all HCs seem to be) and I wouldn't mind him.....he sold "fun" really well and I don't think we have heard that in 2.5 yrs.

Since Petrino has a penchant for young girls...and unfortunately crashed his Harley with intern on the back of it....might as well think Kiffin who hasn't really been caught yet
He probably has learned a lesson and we have had a previous coach many years ago with the same yen. Who cares? As long as you don't get caught with her panties on your head driving down University Blvd that is

Negative??? Since when is telling the truth negative? Give me one good reason why Charlie Strong was never made the HC here (not temporary HC)? They have a chance to go after him now, but they'll probably go after some unknown, inexperienced, next big thing like Champ and Mac. Let's see if the University proves me wrong.
I bet you don't know but Black students have been on the decline at UF at an alarming rate. There's less black students at UF than every school in the SEC besides USC I think and at the rate it's going, UF will be dead last in percentage of black students. Go attend a class and good luck finding 1 black kid in it. Call it systemic, call it dumb luck. The numbers all show that black kids do not feel a part of UF. Go to FSU, USF, UCF, FAU, FIU and it's not a problem, so it's not the state of Florida... so you tell me?

He was indeed made the interim HC and was selected after Meyer -- who...won us two championships? Who had HC experience?
As for 2009, it could be any number of factors -- none being of race. I wanted Strong over Muschamp, Mullen over Strong. They decided to give Muschamp a chance and quite honestly, I still don't understand why to this day.

...So? This is a University problem?
I just don't want you to fracture your legs jumping to conclusions. Do you have any evidence that isn't coincidental?

What factors could it have been that Strong wasn't made coach? Who was more qualified and deserved at the time???
Reduced black student enrollment may not be related to UF HC decisions but do you really think it's a coincidence that every other college in Florida and the SEC is doing okay with it's black enrollment numbers but UF??? Then to think that the university has NEVER had a black football coach and it's the things that make you go... Hmmmm. I hope I'm wrong but I won't hold my breath and I don't think UF will prove me wrong.

I agree with Straws that there have been better candidates than Charlie Strong when we have been looking for a coach. The biggest job opportunity Strong has had he failed at. I think he'd be a great fit at Florida, but I don't think he's the right guy for the job. Nothing to do with race, everything to do with whether I think he could be a guy that wins us an SEC or National Championship.
My initial point that I don't think the big boosters would hire a black coach wasn't intended to be negative. There's unfortunately a ton of big time schools who haven't hired black head coaches. At UF, I want the guy that is best for the job. I will support him no matter who he is. In this case, I think Scott Frost is the best guy for the job. It's not because Frost is white, it's simply because I think he's the best coach for the job and the best option if we want to challenge Saban and not let Kirby take over the east.
