The receiver and DB were literally standing still, man. Maybe you saw another video? Why do you think so many people would say "wow that was ugly, Franks gonna Franks", etc.

It looked worse because of the miscommunication.

Franks seems to have a lot of those, and every time it results in a coach talking to him and not the receiver -- including the Spring Game.

quote:

I don’t recall the video of Mullen, but I imagine you couldn’t hear what he was yelling about or who he was yelling at.

It was literally Mullen talking directly to his face the entire time, I saw the video in real time on Reddit, I also saw Copeland bitching him out to take it down and eventually the Gators staff reached out.

quote:

I’m not overly defending Franks, but come on man.

You are. It was clean cut a terrible pass, but the problem is: It's not that pass. It's that every time the kid is on film he underperforms. This guy recorded a few plays before the snap and the one time he records Franks, Franks throws a terrible ball over the middle -- everyone reacts and says it's terrible, ATL says it didn't look that bad.

Stop, man, the Franks Ferry has sunk. We've been making excuses for him every week for the past year, he just doesn't have it between the ears.

Because fans are stupid and overreact to little things

You could be right. But regardless of whether this is true, this year, at this time, he is the best option. And that’s why Mullen is gonna start him against Charleston Southern

Let's say he throws the pass well, then, and that the receiver and DB are moving across the field (they weren't), the DB was literally a yard in front of the receiver. Even if it was on target, it's an interception in that scenario.

They were stationary, I'm telling you, pardner.

I was certain a bit ago, but now I'm a little less certain. Even if he does start against CHSU, Treon Harris started before Will fricking Grier. It's not about who starts, it's about who finishes.

That is true, but we don’t have Will Grier on this roster. Trask is not Will Grier. Emory is not ready to be Will Grier.

Next year, Emory may be ready for that type of role. This year he’s not. Trask has the disadvantage of not playing in YEARS. Since like, middle school. I don’t see a guy who hasn’t played in front of a high school crowd going in front of 100,000 in Knoxville. I just don’t. I’d love to be wrong and Trask be great, but I don’t see it.

And by the way, I don’t see Franks being great either. But I do think that Mullen is willing to play who he thinks is better. He’s not obligated to be loyal to Franks. If he plays him, it’s because he won the job in camp. No other reason. No point in bitching about it or trashing Feleipe/Trask. They are who they are thanks to Mac and Nuss, so they are who Mullen has to deal with right now. Hopefully he can get the best out of Feleipe and lean heavily on a good running game.

And Franks still can't beat him in a scrimmage. The Franks project is over, man. This is yet another scrimmage that Trask won -- not my words, most of the insiders, people who actually watched, the video evidence.

And I'll bitch about Franks when he shuts the frick up and proves me wrong. I'm so tired of hearing how much he's improved and then he loses another scrimmage.

You may be right, but we’re going to see him start the season.

With you being so low on Franks, what’s your prediction on our record come the end of the season?

I'm not worried about this, I saw him at the start of last season, too.

Hopefully his streak of having other Quarterbacks be injured doesn't continue.

Still 9 - 3, but I think we will probably drop another game. He's too easy to scheme against. With no downfield threat outside of a bomb teams will close down the outside and just bring an extra guy every down. Eventually he'll panic (like in scrimmage) and throw an errant ball.

Gainesville Sun

how about we actually start supporting Franks and wishing for the best. I mean the guy has clearly gone above and beyond this offseason to improve. According to pretty much everyone on the team, he’s a complete film rat now, which proves he’s become a student of the game and trying to better himself mentally. He’s also become a team leader and a guy every player loves and supports. I mean Trask and Jones had to be berated by Savage for being some of the last guys out of the locker room and he told them they were going to have to deal with him if he doesn’t see them first out every time. You really think that’s the mentality of a leader? Besides doing everything he can to get better mentally, he’s put on about 15 lbs of muscle and is now playing at the same weight Tebow was. There’s quite a few videos of him on twitter trucking guys in practice. He’s going to be a handful in the running game. We all need to just erase last year from our minds and chalk it up to many reasons why he didn’t succeed as far as coaching is concerned and start supporting him. We better hope the guy with the most experience has the most success, cause the last thing we want is another first year starting QB making first year starting QB mistakes, especially one who hasn’t played significant snaps since middle school. If Trask was the superstar everyone is making him out to be, you can bet for damn sure it wouldn’t have taken this long to start.

Supporting a QB and saying he's not a good QB aren't mutually exclusive.

I want him to do well, but I just see no reason to feel like he will.

Franks supporters seem to really be obsessed with making this into an emotional thing. I just don't like him, it has to be that. I support him, but I just don't see any reason to feel like he will be a successful Quarterback. Unless Mullen is magic and can change how he processes the field, of course, but he still lost the last scrimmage. The other guy hasn't started in six years.

I'm ex-Navy, so I prefer to man weapons rather than fishing rods.

That aside: You can make an observation about a player and not have anything personally against him.

I had Luke Del Rio bitch me out on Twitter about it.

Can't believe I supported that whiny dude.

That's what Del Rio is saying, but I think Del Rio is on that "I want to be famous" tit right now. Bold move.

Honestly, scholarships are pulled constantly. It’s a business. They don’t owe them a reasoning other than “it’s our job to win games or we get fired. We need this scholarship to help us win games. Thank you for what you’ve done and your hard work for the program, I hope you’ll continue with us as a walk on”.

Turns out Mac wouldve gotten fired regardless. He had a lot of issues here. To me, this isn’t one of them.

Check out this exchange:

StrawsDrawnAtRandom
I've been a pretty vocal critic of a QB, but I always try to at least use his # instead of his name, because I didn't know how easy it was for someone to search for their name. If a person is directly talking to a player and badmouthing them, they have a serious problem.

Luke Del Rio
I mean..... your way isn’t THAT much better but it is a little better I guess

StrawsDrawnAtRandom
As one of your supporters (I have a lot of evidence on other media platforms), if you can't handle Twitter heat, you shouldn't be playing football in general. This isn't to say that someone should insult you directly to your account, but don't go looking yourself up.

Luke Del Rio
Or learn to have some class when dealing with your teams players

StrawsDrawnAtRandom
Are you saying that a player can never be negatively critiqued, or even discussed about their flaws at all? I'm not sure that's practical.

He is as whiny as advertised, and I think it's really easy to find out who is Quarterback material and who is not by their level of butthurt on Twitter

Straws, what is up with that quote you have of TugJob saying ranked 83rd in recruiting is better than 30th. I missed that one. Just frickin damn.

He said he would be okay with being ranked 83rd if Chip Kelly was our coach.

Chip Kelly has 3 players committed, all three are 3-stars.
