shite I think most of us would coach at UF for half a million..I would...the rest can go to charities and my family...I can live off 500k a year very easily.
Not saying coaches should..pretty sure you can"t take an insanely low offer the agents will not let that happen.

I want Napier to be the next Dabo. Took over a program with problems, needed a while to figure out how to run a major program, but recruited well, and the University chose patience rather than cutting ties when things looked iffy.
Now do I think Napier IS the next Dabo? No, that's a really rare thing to have happen. But I would like it to work out that way.

Dabo went 10-3 pre-bowl in his full 3rd season though. Dabo did have a crappy 6-6 second season though. I think in modern times no coach has ever won an SEC or national championship that didn't have at least one pretty good season out of their first 3 full seasons coaching that team. Maybe Napier can be the first to break that trend as he has no excuses with this years roster.

I agree that this is make or break year for Napier but I refuse to bitch and be a a Negagator all season. Support to team and coaches and to the end of the year we can see where the Gator football program is. Go Gators

I think we will go 9-3 but if Napier somehow loses to both LSU and Miami I don't see him surviving. 7-5 seasons in your 3rd and 4th year after a subpar 1st two seasons doesn't cut it at big time SEC schools.

If we go 9-3 it would be a miracle..our schedule is brutal...We won't go 9-3..7-6 is most likely..lets face it...we are medium at best with Mister .500 as head coach..makes me appreciate the Spurrier and Meyer years greatly..now that we are very average(.500), it makes what they did even more fun to rewatch. Nice to watch games when we were good

We have 5 games we have no business losing considering KY and FSU are down. So we just need to go 4-3 in our 7 tough games.

If Lagway is healthy we can beat any team on our schedule.
If Lagway gets hurt and Napier is crazy enough to play Warner over Bailey because of favortism we could lose to a team like KY

We can't beat Georgia, Texas, or sadly....but the rest we can.

I understand the skepticism until we see it but I see us as 50/50 to win those games if we have a healthy Lagway. Not much turnover on this team that finally got its act together some in the last few games.

No we are not even close to 50/50 in either......
Texas killed us 49-17 last year..They held back or it could have been even more brutal.

We did play well against LSU and Ole Miss at the Swamp, but we've also seen some good performances at the Swamp in Napier's first two seasons (against South Carolina in year 1, and against Tennessee in year 2) only to regress later.
We were fortunate that FSU was historically bad but I wasn't too impressed with the performance that game, nor was I impressed with the game against Tulane, but we were just fortunate again that their entire team practically opted out.

I am not sold on us, but I am also not sold on any of our opponents. LSU for example, they seem to be going the FSU route with all the transfers. This whole season seems like a crap shoot.

We gave up in that game after our backup QB showed why he was only Yale's scout team QB after also showing why in the GA game.

As long as Lagway has mentally prepared for teams doing drop coverage on our likely passing downs I think this team can be very dangerous. Tulane saw that on tape and it was messing with him pretty good as he is too eager to go downfield at times. Our defense I think will be pretty good - maybe not in the top of the SEC but not near the bottom in some stuff like last season. An injury to either Banks or Sapp could really hurt us though.
I hope Napier isn't crazy enough to play Warner over Bailey if there is an injury (don't care if Warner lights up a lower FCS team either) as the kid just isn't an SEC level QB. Not sure how in the heck he got the nod over the CSU transfer last season unless it was just favortism or that guy was a problem and didn't know the playbook or something.

I give him a C for now. Results so far have really been D+/C- but it seems like he's done some good things from a program building perspective which would help whoever eventually replaces him (whether he ends up turning things around on the field and staying a while or gets fired by mid-October this year). With the possibility of him turning it around (I'm cautiously pessimistic about that prospect), I'll give him a C rather than a lower score to generously accommodate a potential turnaround.

Our schedule is too freaking brutal to just look at record though. If we go 8-4 it is progress.
Posted on 8/28/25 at 3:37 pm to Gatorbait2008
8-4 with Lagway starting tells me Napier isn't it. This is 100% his team now that he developed and chose the transfers. We have like 4 Mullen recruits left and 3 of them are Sapp, Barber and Slaughter I think so no excuses there.

Well be prepared than..just accept we are average as can be now..makes the CFB season much easier. With Napier, we will never beat teams like Georgia or Texas.. Sucks but reality is brutal sometimes.
