I posted this on the main board, but thought I would also post it here for discussion:

It's easy to forget because UF had two stinky drives at the end of the game and USC had the ball for like 12 minutes in the 4th quarter, but the score was 38-14 with only a few minutes left in the third quarter. UF outscored USCe in a critical stretch from mid 2nd quarters to mid 3rd quarter 24-0. It was 14-14 and suddenly it was 38-14.

Right now, UF is not playing consistently, but they come at you in waves. They did the same thing to Ole Miss. It was 14-14 mid 2nd quarter and then it was 35-14 in the 3rd quarter.

We are giving UF a lot of shite right now for winning 2 SEC games by 2+ scores, but the reality is if they ever put it together for a whole game they will probably blow people the frick out. As it is now, they've only really played well in bursts, but those bursts have basically ended the games.

This team has a lot of upside, despite the apparent weaknesses of the LOS.

I hear what you're saying, but let me make a counterpoint:

Ole Miss has a legit good offense and they might end up second or third in the West. They can score with anyone, even though their defense is trash. That was a good game and I wasn't even remotely worried about it.

The problem with South Carolina is if they had actually executed, they could have easily won.

We didn't stop them, they had multiple drops all over the field, that terrible pitch fumble, they could have easily hung with us and this is the major problem:

Grantham is basically coaching the defense to the point where we wait for them to frick up, not that we actually create anything. Watch the highlights of the game, 95% of South Carolina's success came off of us playing vanilla defense and rushing three or four.

If a team sees this tape and executes with better personnel and scheme, our defense will never stop them. They will score 35 points, easily. Go back and watch all of the unforced errors we had to rely on from South Carolina to stop them.

Keep winning, that's what matters, but this is going to catch up to us sooner rather than later.

I don't know if they would have won but if their WR's could catch a damn pass it would have been a lot closer game.

Is it possible Florida knew South Carolina would hurt themselves? Play safe, keep it in front, let them kill the clock since we were up by multiple touchdowns and it seemed Champ had no intent on winning the game

Florida was definitely trying to keep things in front of them late.

I mean, honestly, we were kind of treating the game like a scrimmage and purposely throwing low % balls in the third quarter because we were up 38 - 14, and in all reality, now that I've slept on it, we would have been able to score more:

1. If we wanted to.

2. If South Carolina actually tried to score.

I really do think Muschamp was just trying to get out of Dodge and keep our offense off of the field to keep the game closer than it actually looked.

Regardless: South Carolina had us beat (play wise) a lot and just couldn't bring it together.

Sure, but I was talking more about the first half since that was mostly what I watched. They had numerous drops that would have made the game more interesting but I doubt they would have won.

Ah yeah, no, they got us. A lot. I'll rewatch the game but I think we even had some sloppy penalties from SC that kept us on the field and them off of it.

Hopefully this is just what we look like with a trap game coming off of a week where everyone was telling us about how good we were and they let it go to their head.

Hopefully.

Hopefully.

My biggest issue is being up 20+ points in the 2nd half and having to hang on at the end. If we can’t put anyone away it means we are not winning battles on the LOS. Never a good thing.

We won both by double digits. Not like we had massive threats to lose. Seems more like complacency with the lead though. Not sure who is to blame for that. Mullen says he wants more aggression so hopefully if we pull away again they do not sit on it.

Our oline looked good but Mullen decided to call some passes and gimmicky run plays for some reason in back to back drives.

Those 3 passes in a row to the non-catch interception were all horrendous. Especially since they were playing Cloud-3 the entire second half.

From what I saw, those were called plays because Trask literally just took a step back and threw it downfield. Not really reads or anything like that.

Hopefully we just stick to what we can do.
