So here we are. 2 games into the Mullen tenure and we have beat a cupcake the way that the University of Florida should beat a cupcake. However we have also lost to a team we haven't lost to in 32 years. Sort of a mixed bag so far.

First off I am gonna give my thoughts on the state of the program. Lets face it, so far this decade we have seen 8 bad years of football with the exception of 2 East title seasons when the east was at its weakest point and a 11-2 miracle type of season. I don't believe Mullen or anybody for that matter could have fixed a bad 8 year run in 8 months.

Simply put the athletic dorms need remodeled, that standalone football facility needs to be built, and we might need to establish a JUCO pipeline in the mean time. Without these things it will get harder and harder to get the cream of the crop recruits and coaches to come to UF. Just need to bite the bullet now, spend the money and look at it like an investment. There is no damn reason for UF to have worse facilities than Vandy, Miss St, and Kentucky. I am off this topic now, been pissed for 10 years about this. Getting it off my chest and moving on.

Mullen should get 4 years here minimum. McElwains recruiting has finally caught up with the program. That was evident last night.

On to last night. Their are 4 reasons imo that we lost. It was 1/3 the old staffs recruiting and culture, 1/3 current staffs in game coaching, 1/3 bad execution of the team, and about 1% was bad officiating.

There is no reason to have 12 guys on the field after a time out, never saw any defensive adjustments. Should have ran the ball with Perine and Davis, especially at the goal line instead of taking a sack. The slide protection gave up 2 big sacks and Mullen said he was fine with it at halftime. Just head scratchers all the way around to me.

Our current talent is sub par by SEC standards. This was clearly evident last night. Especially on the Oline and the inability to tackle on defense last night. The team still has a fragile mentality from the last staff.

Execution was just bad last night. The worst play for me the whole game was the 2 point conversion. Franks was looking right at the rb who was wide open and he didn't throw it to him. i don't blame him for the loss (that was a total team loss) but that told me he still has a long ways to go. They couldn't tackle, they couldn't block. Just bad all the way around.

The last thing is that the refs were horrible last night. First thing, that little unnecessary review at the 2 yard line killed the flow of the offense and took a TD away from us on an option play. I'm convinced that cost us the game. The field goal was good, cost us another 3 points. Lastly the most asinine penalty i have ever seen in college football. Franks throws a TD pass, walks his over to his sideline and gives some Gator fans a high five and he got an excessive celebration un-sportsman like penalty. That gave Kentucky great starting field position. I believe we got a turnover on that drive but turnover be damned that could of fricked us hard.

I'm just saying a bunch of shite came together last night to give us the L. I am still pro-Mullen however I am a bit neutral on Grantham at the moment.

One last thing before i get out of here. I am sick of seeing a pussy arse, fig arse offensive line play every goddamned year. UF needs to become the premier destination for lineman in the country. Sign 10 of those bastards a year. Like 7 out of high school, 2 from JUCO, and a transfer. Give them the QB treatment, beast seats on the bus and plane, best dorms, the best sluts, the best food, the best everything. Make it a priority the get the best lineman out there and the other positions will follow. We also need to start over signing but that's a whole other thread.

Here is hoping for 6-6 and a Birmingham Bowl bid.

Go Gators.

TL;DR but will later. What a tale of two games. From high of all highs to lowest of lows.

I was extremely surprised at how little fight UF put up. I hope it was an issue of the big head instead of our… toughness and preparation.

Grantham can't teach kids how to tackle. They couldn't tackle under the last staff either.

You either have it or you don't.

Great post btw. Agreed on all your points.

Being out of position, not making sure the players contain, tackling, blocking, I could go on as we all could.

After losing containment on the outside the first time as a coach I’d tell them that if you do it again I’ll put someone in that won’t.

Reese is the only legit LB we have that is good at tackling and maintaining gap integrity, but he doesn't have a lot of speed.

His presence will help a little, but the LBs are just weak as a whole.

There was a lot ofreasons for the loss last night . Mainly the team was soft from the defensive being pushed around and missing tackles, OL not blocking and Franks running from contact . We have to play tougher the rest of the year . Mullen needs to get the playmakers the ball more . This using 4RBs doesn’t work. Mullen needs to pick 2 and use them .

Here is my reply to a pretty good thread Olem.

First, unfortunately we are a school that actually has academic standards and its tough getting JUCOs in. K State, Texas Tech, Ole Miss, etc etc have easier route. JUCOs cant ven visit officially unless the admin approves it.

Secondly, this is one game...just one. I was sick to my stomach last night but now I have cleared my head. UK wanted this game way way more than we did and it showed. They forced into a lot of errors and did beat us physically with their OL. I have to admit that I was not thrilled it took so long to have Khairi Clark inserted at nose. He is only one guy but I could see the difference in how the middle of the defense looked. The nose tackle is supposed to tie up two OL to let LBs make tackles, not get moved around by one OL as Slaton did. As bad as Slaton looked, he is very talented and will help us win games.

I cant understand the dropped passes that were on target. Franks was battered and he eventually lost some accuracy in the second half. Any QB will falter with pressure constantly in their face. Our OL just did a poor job...run blocking and pass protection. RBs need to be evaluated and imo Scarlett doesn't deserve many carries at all. Perrine ran with a purpose and ditto Davis. I hope Pierce is learning the protection schemes and can help us. If he cant block well, then teams will soon discover that he is in the game only to run the ball.

Special teams was ok, with the exception of Lemmons fielding a kickoff inside the end zone and trying to run it out and ending up at the 18 yd line. He did that last year too many times.

Refs were God awful for both sides...it was a flag fest and slowed everything down. Hopefully they got a notice from the SEC office.

Bottom lines well coached teams with good players don’t give up 300 yards rushing to Kentucky. UF has shite players and shite coaching.

I've actually never been more dejected about the state of Gator Football than I am right now, and that's saying something considering I was working the sideline during the Georgia Southern game and watched them receive our Alma Mater after the game.

I don't even know what else to say beyond that. This just sucks, and it seems every light at the end of the tunnel turns out to be a train.

He saw he was open well for before that frame. He stared him down as he rolled to that side prior to the snap.
