Morning gator fans,

Friendly tiger fan here, I come in peace. Gale Force winds or not, I plan on making the drive. Assuming this Game will be planned Saturday what are some places or bars to hit up after the game. Planning on staying in Tallahassee that night before. What are some good eats and drinks out there? Also assuming I 75 South will be open? Lots of assuming here haha. Sometimes you have to take a chance, Columbus did.

I don't know about Tallahassee, but we just had a nice new bar open up across the stadium that I'll be checking out on Saturday. The Social

Would be stunned if I75 is in any way closed because of the storm.

My suggestions for bars will depend very much on how old you are or how rambunctious you want to be.

Gainesville is predicted to get between 3 and 5 inches of rain Friday. That isn't interstate closing weather.

23-26 year olds. Maybe a nice chill spot, pool tables, nothing too wild

The Social literally just opened up and I haven't been yet. From what I know from passing by it is this:

Yes, it was where Gator City was. They completely gutted it and made it 2 stories with the 2nd floor looking like it's got some outdoor seating. It looks nice from what I can tell, but we know it being across the street from campus that it'll be run down in no time. It's definitely worth trying as of right now.

As far as the OP's question:

Check out Mid-town, which is a strip of bars where the Social is across the street from the stadium. If you're wanting a little more low key, try World of Beer at 34th and Archer. If you're wanting to play pool and stuff like that, head to downtown and try Palominos, there are also some good bars nearby like Tall Palls.

If the game gets pushed back or if you have time on Sunday, check out Swamp Head Brewery or First Magnitude as well. They aren't open late though.

Chill spot would be the Palomino - pool hall in Gainesville located in downtown. Decent tables, and it's connected to a full bar in the back and a mexican restaurant called Boca Fiesta. It doesn't open until 2 on most Saturdays though, so I don't know what they will do for the game.

Main Street Bar and Billiards would also probably be nice, but I see they don't open until 3 normally.

I don't know of a pool hall that will be for sure open for the game that early.

All of the bars along midtown by the stadium will be PACKED. Here's a little guide to those - barz

Tall Pauls might be a fun place to watch the game but it doesn't have Pool tables.

Wow this is more than I expected, thanks baws.

Also been looking at hotels in Tallahassee. Nothing seems to be available. Yikes. Any other cities to look at?

Lake city is probably full too.

There isn't much else in between Tallacrappy and Gainesville.

Yea, it's really nice and I'm sure that'll last a week. I know the guy who owns it really wants to maintain it as a quality bar and not let it turn into the cesspool that was Gator City and Envy. Supposedly there gonna do something similar to Cantina too, but I don't know the details. Just a heads up OP, these places in mid will be slammed. Downtown is your best bet if your not tailgating

I posted this in another thread:

quote:

Midtown is more of the college crowd, downtown will be more mid/late 20s crowd. Here's a few:

Midtown bars:
-Balls, Grog, Salty Dog: cheap beer, gets packed
-Swamp/Cantina 101: hot bartenders/waitresses. if you can get a table on the front lawn at swamp, it's a nice place to drink and people watch.
-ooZoo: a few blocks East of these other bars, newer bar with a lot of tvs. connected to Dough Religion which is a build your own pizza place.
-The Social (replaced Gator City): just opened, looks really nice from the outside, supposed to have a rooftop bar.

Downtown bars:
-Tall Pauls: lots of beer on tap. they have a lot of games like shuffleboard, darts, foosball, ring toss. Usually have a live band on the weekend
-Barcade: 3 story arcade/bar
-OAK: bar/restaurant where you can put money on a card and sample different beer. they have shuffleboard as well
-The Top: great restaurant, not as much a bar but have a bar area with foosball. Good cocktails
-Whiskey House- newer bar, pretty self explanatory

Breweries:
-First Magnitude: less than 5 minutes south of the downtown bars. Ton of games/board games.
-Swamphead: a few minutes south of Archer road. Really nice brewery

If you're into craft beer, you should check out one of the breweries (or both). There's more to do at First Mag, but Swamphead's brewery is really nice.
