Tigahs going down in the Swamp !!! Im exhausted from the game tonight...a nail biter and Mullen proved he is the best hire of all the new HCs imo.

Grantham did a great job with no secondary depth, CJ McWilliams, Shawn Davis stepped up big time. We got fricking hosed by the refs 11 flags and MSU only had 2 ????? As hard as the refs tried, they couldn't stop us.

Key to the game was after Franks pass was deflected and picked off...our defense held and then we kept punching them on offense and finally they started tiring and the crowd went quiet. Mullen called a great game tonight and pulled all the right strings.

I think we have a great chance to beat LSU. We have to stick to this gameplan, though.

Franks is dynamite when we're utilizing short quick passes and spreading the field out for our RBs.

It takes a lot of pressure off of the OL, too, because it's basically a free down for them. Don't get on them too much for the false starts/holds, those cowbells are fricking ludicrous and it's impossible to communicate when they're ringing them on a fricking audible.

SEC has to get rid of that shite.

But I don't think LSU is as good as advertised. I think we could win any game on our schedule right now, if our offense continues to operate and execute the way they did tonight.

Scarlett's rushing has to change, though, he's #3 on the depth chart if I'm coach -- Perine #1 with Pierce getting in there some. Let Scarlett run at tired defenses, because his ball carrier vision isn't there yet.

I’m in the minority on this but Perine is our best running back. Kid can block, can run and can catch. Pierce is the most explosive.

I think most of us agree with you . Scarlet seem like he lost a step from his freshman year . Pierce made some mistakes late that almost cost us but he has the most explosive moves .

This is how I know no one has been reading my posts, and it's the most frustrating thing ever.

...is bull shite. I constantly say that Franks is very good at short passes StrawsDrawnAtRandom on 9/26/18 at 10:52 pm

It's literally three days ago, if you guys had any intellectual honesty you'd admit that you haven't been listening and never bothered to do anything other than misrepresent me.

And it's me who comes to defend Franks: He's actually pretty good with the mesh routes. Posted on 9/24/18 at 11:15 am to Muthsera

I've said like a million times that Franks can actually be extremely successful if we retool our offense to fit his strengths. His strength is the short passing game -- he's hitting over 90% of his passes there. I'll wager, too, that if I go to the CHSU game it'll only further support my claims. I literally made a goddamn post about it.
https://www.secrant.com/rant/gator-sports/feleipe-franks-pass-breakdown-and-how-he-can-improve/78675612/

quote:

Dr. Straws Prescription for future games: Limit Franks' reading and go with one read offense, short passes with the occasional intermediate/long pass. Just as I stated, the short passing game helps out the offensive line. If we're going to move forward with Franks at Quarterback, he has to elect shorter routes and understand that he isn't nearly as good of a passer as he thinks he is. He needs to have monumentally less trust in his arm and utilize his checkdown more often

Came around? Bitchhhhh, I've been around.

Pierce almost caused a damn fumble when his elbow hit Franks in the backfield....that would have turn the cowbells on LOUD. Scarlett is the best blocker and the key first down he picked up late in the game saved our arse maybe.

I agree Pierce is the best runner...but he has to learn schemes and improve every week. Once he does....look out!
He can be a lethal weapon.

LSU is going to be much like MSU...defense heavy but not a great offense. We are at home and will want to get some revenge on 2017s 1 point loss that started our backslide.

OMG...Straws...this is the posting I've been wanting from you. All positives. Beautiful. Have an upvote. Scarlett is incredibly tenative and it's time Pern starts. He is simply better all around. Runs harder and catches well. Scarlett blocks well and I believe is the leader of the backs in practice..but he is the third best back now. Pierce..God that kid will be special.

I literally have been saying this for weeks, and outlined it in this very thread.

I'm entering Cassandra level curse, here.

"Cassandra was cursed to utter prophecies that were true but that no one believed."

I said at least half a dozen times that if he focuses on the short game, he will have a chance to be a great Quarterback. He had a good night tonight, but if we continue to protect him (with playcalling) he has a future at this position -- but it's at least a year away.

MSU is probably kicking themselves for not winning this game.

#1. They dropped a pick 6.
#2. They dropped a for sure TD pass.

That's how the cookie crumbles, but DAMN.

That was the game right there. They make those plays they win.

But the team showed heart, the defense is really starting to step up, and the offense has a steady pulse.

LSU is a different animal. They are 5-0, and have beaten some good teams away from Tiger Stadium. I will be surprised if UF wins that game, but I think UF will give them a hell of a fight.

If it's Mullen vs. Orgeron, I take Mullen every time.

Even though this game was close, I was completely at ease. I even told my mom (who was really worried) that I knew if we could go up seven we would win.

Those cowbells also fricked us on several drives, and they clearly had an effect on the line. We're at home, LSU has those effects (that place is going to be rocking). I like our chances.

Bring on LSU.

I like our staff better than theirs. I think we are significantly better on defense now that the front seven is fixed up. This will be a fun game for sure. Can't wait to get in the Swamp and yell till I pass out from lack of oxygen

Eh I'm going to have to see more than one week of Perine outproducing Scarlett in the running game to say he's a "better runner." We have years of results that point to the opposite conclusion. Perine had the hot hand today, though.

Jesus, you think a lot of yourself.

Good call on the short passes, and I think a lot of us wanted us to simplify the offense for Franks, but

After weeks of people telling me to email Dan Mullen, he finally listened. /s

It's not that I think a lot of myself, it's that I did the research, put in the time and made quality content for the board by breaking down Franks' passing chart.

You can imagine my dismay when I say the same positive thing about Franks that I've been saying for weeks and when it finally happens and I say he did well, someone says this is a new Straws when it's literally the same thing I've been saying all along.

Slayer, be prepared to be surprised this Saturday. Game on CBS 3:30 and LSU has to face the sun on the east side of the Swamp. Hope its hot as hell.

I remember the past few years when everyone was saying " if only had a little more offense we could win more games". Well, we now have a little more offense. Defense is stout and well coached...hasn't everyone noticed that Grantham makes some great adjustments? The UK loss has proven to be a loss to a very good team.

Honestly, we are capable of winning out. I feel very good about taking down LSU who might be ranked # 4 and we have Vandy, UGA, then Mizzou and USC at home. Girls school is bad. Idaho will be French fried.
