Your semi-regular reminder:

Auburn is 22-21 vs P5 opponents since Kick Six.

Florida, which is on its third coach since then, is 21-21.

I bring this here not to rub it in. It just seems strange to me that one program gives their coach a 49 million dollar raise and one is cycling through coaches. What is the main difference between AU and UF with their 21-21 record.

Edit: is it perception that causes it? One is in the west which is tougher than the east. Is it because AU tends to have one great year followed by a bad one while UF appears to remain constant?

We also play LSU every year and UGA plays AU every year.

Some will tell you the reason we are 21-21 is because of the dearth of QBs who could win games...but there is more than that. Tim Tebow left after the 2009 season and if some of you will remember...it was a painful year. Freaking Gator "fans" who were johnny come latelys..moaned and groaned the entire year in 2009. Why? Cause we didn't score enough points to please them...same reason Spurrier left.

Gators can be their own worse enemy at times. Have a lot of success and then anything else is not acceptable. Of course we went 12-0 in 2009...but since we didn't win by 35 points every game...it was an insufferable year to me.
Then we lost to Bama in the SECCG and it was like the world ended. Tim lost a lot of talent from the 2008 team. And does anyone remember the slight concussion he suffered during the Miss State game at night?

UF has had bad breaks at time since 2010. It happens. Teams go through cycles. I vividly remember LSU being bad in the mid 1990s, UGA being bad at times and being 1-11 against Spurrier etc etc. Bama was awful years ago.
AU went through some bad times with losing seasons.

I think coaching has a lot to do with turning programs around. Just a fresh start and renewed energy levels can change everything. Mullen I think is bringing us back. Its still early...but I like what I see. We cant be judged by UK loss alone. It was like bad tasting medicine that you hate to take but it does heal in the long run.

I don't say this to rub it in but you realize UF has beaten UG 3 of last 4 games and 21 of last 28?

That was one of my initial thoughts as well.

Thanks for the well thought out post and that all makes sense as well. I didn't think of the newer fans being that way. At least you guys got to experience the highest of highs for a long, long time. UF is a sleeping giant and someone, maybe Mullen, will wake her back up again.

I think the issue wasnt losing to p5 programs. It was losing to teams we out talented by a large margin that got Muschamp and MC fired. Also very boring and stagnant offenses.

Muschamp recruited well and was very well liked by everyone in the administration. I have never seen a send off like he got from admins at the final presser.

But he didn't hire the right OCs an it doomed him. Losing to Ga Southern should be put in perspective...we had so many damn injuries that by that game we had a walk on and true frosh playing LB and a fourth string QB, Skyler Morningweg who had no business playing for a SEC team.

In 2013 we took 59 able bodies to Columbia S.C with us on the plane including about 8 special teams an walk ons.

2014 was on Boom, but at least he did beat UGA. His fate was sealed by alumni donors when Mizzou beat the crap out of us with special teams and pick returns etc etc. Even though I think they had less than 200 yds of offense. It rdeminded me of 1989 against Ole Miss in the season opener when we fumbled away the game..and they had jack in yardage. That QB was suspended btw for gambling and you might know the backup QB who also got suspended....Shane Matthews. Not implying that game and gambling were related.

True, I don't remember AU losing to any teams like that although they have been close a time or two.
