Satchels pizza is an absolute Gainesville must. I eat there after every home game before going back to Tampa.

Local attractions its not a huge list tbh.

The Swamp is a terrible idea. It is a frat filled bar. Stay away from midtown during game day. Its not worth it. Down town is much better and away from the drunk frat kids who will make the experience bad for you. Social, The Swamp, etc. Will be a lot of drunk and probably angry gator fans if we lose. Add in sorority girls literally wear no clothes not sure you want kids around them. Literally saw two different tits in five minutes awaiting my GF last game outside social. I am not complaining, but still not family friendly. Pretty sure no girl in midtown wears panties. I used to ride my motorcycle up there and literally wait. Within ten minutes a sloote would be on the back wanting a ride home.

Went to my first game in the Swamp this past weekend. After the game we went to Ballyhoo Grill. The food there was amazing. On Sunday we ate at The Swamp and The Social. No complaints about either of those, although the Social became completely packed after the game.

Social isn't bad on Sunday. Its a bad idea for opposing fans on gameday though. Its the frat area. Will get harassed pretty badly.

Agree on midtown on gameday. Avoid if possible. Being a local its hard to tell a visitor where to go. All the things are meh to me. Being older I’m over the crowds and stuff.

Any other recommendations?

I am looking for a good spot to watch the Astros v Indians/Yankees Saturday afternoon before the game. What's good and close to campus?

Go to the Social at midtown. Recently renovated sports bar with a ton of TVs. Also has a rooftop bar. They will have a ton of local beer from Swamphead/First Magnitude on draft.

If you're into craft beer, you could check out the breweries. First Magnitude is downtown, Cypress & Grove is a new one that's between downtown and 13th st, and Swamphead is over just south of Archer road. I'd recommend Swamphead if you have time for just one. They do football Friday events with live music and food trucks.

Just wanted to drop in and say thanks for all the recommendations. I had a blast in Gainesville. From my perspective, it didn't have a glowing reputation, but I enjoyed my time and thought highly of the game day environment. Gainesville is alright with me.

We ended up not heading into social. At some points that place had a line out the door. I had a few beers at The Rowdy Reptile and caught some of the Astros game. That pop a shot was neat, but it was a little bit of a dump too. Had some Swamp Head there. Good recommendation. I enjoyed it.

After that, we hit up a tailgate right across the street. It was great finding parking, bars, tailgating, and the stadium all right next to each other.

With my awesome luck, I got invited up to a suite (presidential suite? skybox? I heard people call it by different names). It was on the 7th floor and while it may have been high, it felt like we were right on top of the field. I love how close the seats are to the field. It was a little hard to tell since we were inside, but it sounded fairly loud on a lot of big plays. It wasn't a sellout, but the atmosphere was strong. I am proud of the 12th Man that showed up too. I had a great view our the Aggies making a little noise at times too.

Overall I had a great time. The win was just the icing on the cake. I'll be back in 14 years when we get to come to Gainesville again.
