We will never get over the hump with Mullen in charge. Mark my words. This is Ron Zook 2.0... McElwian and Muschamp were much worse than Ron Zook.

So get ready for the 7-9 wins every year without sniffing winning the SEC or making the playoffs. We will be back here in 4 years after we run Mullen and Stricklin off.

I give thanks to the dumbasses making us look like crazy arse fans and running Kelly and Frost off. You guys act like it wouldn't be noticed by them, but it certainly was. See Schiano at Tennessee ordeal if you think it doesn't go unnoticed.

1/3 - 1/2 of UF fans don't know how to football.

I heard on the rant that Mullen got 7.5 million a year . If we are paying him that much this is going to be a Disaster. Stricklin made UF look stupid with the Kelly issues and then pays his friend 7.5 million a year to be the head coach. UCLA is only paying Kelly 5 million a year .

So let's break down this insanely stupid post. frick you are an idiot.

1. He won 7-8 games as Miss State. This is Florida. Slight difference. Add in the West is much more difficult. So this first thought is dumb as frick.

2. Zook was a better recruiter, Mullen better game day coach. Zook also had more issues than people seem to recognize. Spurrier's last two classes were truly awful classes featuring almost no top tier players. Zook wasn't great, but his hand wasn't as nice as it seemed with having Grossman back.

3. Blaming the fans? LOL. Jesus.

I know I said we signed Kelly. Was wrong. Get over it. At least I don't think dumb shite like this. Kelly seeing UF fans wanting him doesn't run him off. The UAA not giving full control of the program does. He used UF, and it happens. Wants a cushy job, instead of a big time program. He backed out twice in the NFL after signing, he backed out on us as well. Seems to be his M.O.

Pretty sure Forever was in Mac's corner. I know you and I went hard after Mac after Michigan on here. In fact he has a thread about finally coming over to the side of reason but took longer than most.

So guess he is staying in the negative now. Seems to have some very big issues to deal with. I'd suggest Tinder. Kills all angry spells for lonely men like yourself.

I was heavy in McElwain's corner, maybe his most staunch defender (arguably), but Mullen is a much better hire.

He is objectively better than McElwain in every facet of the game.

He recruits better, his offense is better schematically and he is an SEC coach with a proven track record at the Vanderbilt of the West. If Vanderbilt could keep it within 8 against Alabama, people would be talking about how great Mason is.

Mullen is an amazingly good hire. He's not Frost and he's not Kelly, but when it comes to:

A proven HC (he beats Frost)
Longevity (he beats Kelly)

He is easily the best hire we could hope for.

I defended Zook, Muschamp & Mac....because I support our coaches until they are not our coaches. I will be defending Mullen when this board gets after him...as it surely will after a L. Even Saban is getting the treatment at Bama right now and its silly.

I know Mullen has his work cut out for him and I think he is 45 yrs old...so he should be able to still hustle and deal with the pressure cooker. UF is a mess right now and major changes are needed in philosophy and player development. I hope he will have a great WR coach...cause our receiver corp is a complete mess. Recruiting alone is going to be vital, as we need an infusion of talent.

Not sure if he is staying for Miss State's bowl game? I cant see him able to do that and be our HC at the same time. One or both teams would suffer. While some may disagree....retaining Shannon would be ok with me. Our defense has been staunch for a while and when you factor in the injuries, youth and the ineptness of our offense....he did a pretty damn good job. I know some would want more blitzing...but with our back seven so young...it was hard to do.

Just shallow thinking. Ppl on here bitching about 9 win seasons.. IT WAS MSST!!! We all know what Mullen can do with UF talent, his numbers are #1 in the SEC over his span here in many offensive categories.

Hooooly christ.

Step away from the ledge...

See my stats on Mullen. 9 years prior to mullen, MSU has 37 wins total. Only 2 bowl seasons. 9 years with Mullen, 69 wins, 8 bowl teams.

MSU is historically the worst team in the SEC west, and the third worst team in the SEC just ahead of UK and VU and right behind South Carolina.

He did that in the best division in the country with the least talented team.

Can you at least wait until he coaches at least one game at Florida to say he sucks? I mean, I'll happily bash a coach when I think he sucks, but come on now. he hasn't coached a game at Florida yet.

Mullen came to win championships. He could have stayed at Mississippi State for the rest of career and made a top 15 salary. He knows what it is going to take and has embraced the expectations.

I think he is going to create some momentum in recruiting and when the dust settles people are going to be very happy.

Get a grip. Kelly very clearly preferred to not come to Gainesville and Frost was never in play because of the situation at Nebraska. I could see a little bit of anger at Stricklin for the Kelly saga, but blaming the fans? For what exactly?

Mullen will fix our offensive issues (especially at QB) and bring in a DC that will do well with Florida talent.

Dan is not going to have a soft team. Hard physical football in all three phases of the game.

I get that some people are not going to buy in with Mullen. He is not the most "sexy" hire.

I buy in because it is more fun to have a positive outlook on our program and school. I would have sold myself on Strong, Taggart, or Norvell.

However, my positive outlook does not extend to our AD. Stricklin seriously fricked shite up with Kelly. You do not fly the UF prez anywhere and not have a done deal before he steps on the plane. Athletes First played Stricklin. Stricklin was bailed out by Mullen and UT's dumpster fire.

I followed the Kelly story really close with both Florida and UCLA Insiders (Including a booster who told us that they signed the papers a day before it was announced anywhere) -- no one is/was happy with Kelly, and both schools were pretty pissed off about it.

Blame Stricklin for a lot of things, but don't blame him for getting flaked on by an infamous flake. This is the second time Kelly got cold feet at the alter.

This.

HIs offense was the king of the SEC here.

I've said the example before, but worth repeating.

Look at Collins.

He left Miss State as a good DC, with Florida talent, became of one the best in the country and got a HC job.

Why? Because you are limited at Miss State. YOu really aren't at Florida. Mullen had three 9 win seasons in the hardest division in football, with a program that had a .427 win percentage when he got there. That is consistent, that is impressive, this is a good hire.

I think Mullen is a solid hire and I think he turns things around here. I am just not sold on winning championships with him and the idea we may have over payed him to come here . I didn’t really want him unless we could get any one better . He would have been around the 6th to 10th coach on my list . I will be excited to see what he can do with this offense. I am just not a 2 faced person like some of the other poster why don’t like coaches till we hire them and then they are the best ever. Or support a coach because he our coach and then lead the mop to bash him when he gets fired. If it comes out that Mullen makes 5 million a year I would like the hire a lot better .
