So, here we have it, usually the most important game of the season. Even though we wrapped up the East, I still think that this is, without a doubt, the most important game to lock down the state of Florida.

FSU's Offense:

Summary: Has looked very good against suspect defenses. Clemson just gave up 43 points to a rather docile Pittsburgh team with FSU's best win coming against Ole Miss -- who just got absolutely demolished by Vanderbilt.

Strengths:

1. Dalvin Cook is a man. He's good all by himself without much help and has been unstoppable. Amazing vision and cutback ability.

2. Recivers. We're running into another team like South Carolina who has a rather young quarterback with a bunch of great wide receivers and tight ends around him.

Weaknesses

1. Pass Rush. Clemson was pressuring Francois with only three lineman and their quarterback has been repeatedly beaten up in the year.

2. Consistency. At times, they look like a team chalk-full of freshmen who can't do anything right, at other times, they look as though they can do nothing wrong.

FSU's Defense

Summary: At times, it looks as though they have no defense to speak of. The three games that were competitive that I watched (NC, Clemson and Miami) it appeared as though the opposing team literally just rant right through them.

Even for the ACC, their defense looked downright awful.

Strengths

1. Pass Rush. They seem to get to the quarterback rather easily and I'm uncertain if they're well-coached or it's simply the talent available.

2. Turnovers. Whether it's luck or skill, they seem to have great luck getting the ball. I'm actually quite impressed in this regard.

X-Factors

FSU:

Special Teams: To win, FSU will have to rely on their special teams quite a bit. Their punting has been abysmal and their place kicking, arguably worse. If they have a bad game in this regard, they could lose big.

Florida:

Can we stop Cook? If Cook is allowed to break free, we will be in trouble. However, Guice, Fournette, Chubb and I'll even go with Webb right now are probably better running backs than Cook. Not to talk shite on the guy, he's amazing, but this isn't the first show-stopping running back we've faced.

Prediction:

Florida wins convincingly (10-16)

Florida State wins a close one (1 - 9)

Florida wins a close one (1 - 9)

Florida State wins convincingly (10-16)

Florida or Florida State wins by a blowout (+17)

Addendum: I know that Florida State is an 8 point favorite, but watching the tape, this one should be an easy win for us. They have looked sloppy and could have lost their games against NCSU and Miami while Ole Miss was pummeling them.

They are a second half team, however, and we need to be prepared for that.

LSU fans will melt even harder than they did last week if we beat FSU by 10-16

Heres my .03 worth. The girls school fans could easily look at our UT and Arkie games and see ineptness....although we had our way with UT in the first half. Look at our games:
UMass was a struggle...but played in a monsoon and they played other teams tough.
UKwith QB Drew Barker we blew outta of the water
North Texas was tough, JDR threw picks and then got injured
UT again we dominated the first half and they came back strong
Vandyreally tough road game and VU has already beaten UGA & Ole Miss to prove they arent a pushover
Game postponed

Mizzou we pretty much dominated them on defense
UGAgame was never really in doubt imo
Arkiethey were fired up with a weeks rest and were looking to bounce back after being spanked bad by AU. We were beaten badly in every phase.
S Carolinawe got redemption
LSUWhat a difference pent up emotions make!
Girls School This game bothers me because it requires full blown intensity 2 weeks in a row...do we have it in us? We will find out.

No matter the outcome...we have shown that young players are being developed by our coaches....Vosean Joseph's hit on Eitling is a classic that will go down in history. They could have been up 14-3 if they score TD...instead a botched FG and then the 98 yd bomb! Our younger players are fired up and havent played the long stretch of snaps like the regular starters...so they have fresh legs.

Reese will be an All SEC player imo soon. Dude has "it" factor. He made a sure handed tackle on LF in the late 3rd qt that was good to see. Gardner has "it" also and he will play a ton next year. Cleveland is a big body WR that will score some TDs for us.

Wont say we win but wont say we lose either against the ketchup & mustards.

Call me crazy but I think our X factor is our true freshmen playing. Usually you go into these late season games with juniors or seniors trying not to get hurt and giving less than 100%. Last week showed me what full out could be with these young bucks trying to prove something.

We broke the record for least yards permitted in our school history, that's not really tough.

That aside:

I'm not just taking this by numbers or where they struggled, I watched the games full, all the way through.

They outrecruited almost every team that beat them (two at home) and should have lost to Miami outside of a blocked PAT.

I'm also looking at what they've done the whole year on defense -- and even as bad as our offense has been -- their defense just looks bad. At every phase aside from offensive line.

Literally every game I watched UNC (lost to Georgia) just marched down, Clemson made it look like they were playing against a high school defense and Louisville (didn't watch because it wasn't competitive) killed them.

We have a signature win over LSU at home and a 4 point difference in victory than Alabama.

It took a miracle, but I honestly think LSU would get six hundred yards on FSU. Their defense is just that porous.

I'm not saying FSU can't win, in fact, they probably should, but nothing from what I watched makes me ''afraid'' like I was against LSU.

If we play smart, if we eat up clock and control Cook, we win easy. Francois can run as well, but he'll get clobbered like Etling did and not do it again.

Its all part of reverse mojo, hoodoo voodoo magic

I felt strongly that the Gators would show up against the tigahs...the stars aligned perfectly and a band of angry Gators showed up....but I wasnt posting on this board then. I did warn DBU on the Rant (he had called us cupcakes) to be careful that the cupcakes didnt have razor sharp teeth.

I just pointed out what we did during the year and how people have overlooked us because the offense wasnt gelling early on....save UK game. We win with defense and thats how Bama & Ohio St and Meatchicken win.

But we have to keep defense rested some and score just enough points to let them handle things with a lead. The girls school game should not be high scoring or at least I hope not, we are better suited to play low scoring affairs and let the defense strangle the life out of them.

I also think Appleby should have been starter from game one. He has the arm to make defenses weary of loading up the box too many times. The 98 yd bomb he threw was a huge play...we went into max protect mode and he threw a rainbow. The cajuns in the stands were shell shocked and it dawned on them that this wasnt gonna be an easy game.
The noise level went down after that.

Again, young players really made an impact and Im excited to watch them play again. Look at our OL...McCoy is a damn beast and a road grader..Taylor at RT is getting it..then add some good sophs like Johnson, Jordan, Ivy and now it looks like Harkless might start for us. This OL has the ability to really help us next year.

Fellow Gators,

My sources tell me that the cuteness on 3rd and a foot last week was not well received by the head coach.

It seems that, perhaps, the embarrassing performance at Arkansas and the disrespect from LSU may have been the inflection point for Mac's tenure. But he and everyone else knows that had they not been too cute at the goal line, the subsequent goal line stand would not have been needed.

Mac has taken a much bigger role in the offensive planning and will dictate more play calling this week.

Result is a break in some tendencies and some insightful calls at critical times.

Things will come together for the offense and the defense will come through with some short fields and a score.

FSU 20

Sincerely,

Jeremy Foley

Yeah really fincher...where you been? Late to the party.

If I wanna set my sights high...so what? I havent predicted anything...yet. Somehow I get the feeling you dont wanna see us beat the Florida State College for Women?

If we beat them tomorrow night....then look out.

The only thing that concerns me is that it's a rivalry game. Usually those are downright difficult to predict.

But the predictor for ESPN has us at a 25% chance to win and the spread is +8. I just don't see it at this point, unless they like the offensive matchup on the bootleg. It's going to be an interesting game, nonetheless, but I think they're underestimating our defense.

We were 14 point dogs and ESPN gave us a 16% chance to beat LSU.

I just hope our guys play with a fire and tenacity like they did last saturday. Go Gators! frick FSU
