And this is exactly why I didn't want to fricking run McElwain out. I fricking knew we would take a shot with another guy who is exactly the frick like him.

We need a real name, WE'RE FLORIDA. It's a top-tier program. frick my life if they take another chance. We need to fricking go with Mullen. There is no reason we shouldn't take Mullen or even Frost, but not another out of state dude at a mid-tier program.

The cupboard will never be bare at a high profile school in the state of Florida. He will leave them raw talented needing a year of coaching up by his replacement.

I'd let Spurrier lead the coaching search

if they really wanna piss off the fanbase more, then by all means, hire norvell.

wtf.

he's done well enough so far. was a good oc at asu. just wonder what makes him the "#1" candidate?

We hire a guy and the fanbase isn't 100% dold on him...he is doomed from the getgo.

I'm telling you right now that Petrino can win the SEC, and he is at a school where there is no real instate high school talent and he has one 10 win, two 11 win seasons and one 12 win season along with a Heisman QB under his belt...where the frick can we find someone like him elsewhere? He was a QB in a small college and won AA division 3 honors. His father was a coach. His brother coached with him...he is the most seasoned HC at a smaller school with a helluva win record at UL.

He has coached in the NFL and has coached in the SEC and took Ark to a 10 win and 11 win seasons in 4 years. No brainer.

Hearing that Stoops is in the mix, again. So he can tell us no, again.

Kelly is probably a no.

Mullen or Frost, Petrino I wouldn't mind but he might be a bit of a...

Let's say distraction.

good Lord guys - y'all need to be Frost or bust

Kiffen? SHOULD be a non-starter at any respectable school; not just for what he did to TN & for his failure at USC - but for the rap that he chases co-eds. After a year where so many guys got in trouble/suspended - why allow a guy that plays loose with the rules to be in charge?

Petrino? the guy is a flash in the pan. Do UF folks want to go through the next 3 - 5 years watching a bunch of 44 - 31 type games? And getting blasted by teams like UGA & Bama that actually play defense? Cuz that's what you get with Bobby

Stoops? Ain't coming

IF y'all get in the coaching search (and it looks like you will) - you will be the top job on the board

I think you should go with Frost or Les Miles

Miles is a proven winner, a great recruiter & has a reputation for running a clean program - like it or not; y'all need that right now, After Urban & even now with Mac - y'all are starting to get a rep for playing loose with the rules.

I am not trying to be a prick or to troll; but I get the feeling that Florida is one bad hire away from having Ole Miss type issues...

I like our rivalry better with you guys strong and in contention

Petrino hasn't had the facilities and resources that UF has and yet has beaten top teams. He has to recruit out of state at Kentucky and if at UF would have the defensive talent to recruit.

Just remember that the new HC will be handed the keys to the battleship. Stoops struggled at Oklahoma before he left and is ready to retire. Petrino has coached at Louisville very successfully, coached at Atlanta Falcons and Arkansas.

He had a relationship with an intern at Arkansas and if you saw her pics...you'd know why..anyone can have weakness over pussy and he has learned his lesson. He was out of coaching one year then was hired as HC at Western Kentucky and proved himself and Louisville rehired him. He has never had the resources UF has.

Some major school is going to hire him soon. He wont go to Ole Miss, that's a lateral move. Texas A&M or UF is what he would look for. The only drawback is the incident at Arkansas and whether ADs are willing to overlook it. I guarantee you we wont complain about offense anymore and he can get the best candidate to run the defense.

on that logic, you should have kept Champ - he was a competent OC away from being a really solid hire at UF

just sayin

Kiffin had a clause with UT that he could leave for his dream job which was USC. Just cause UT fans were butthurt doesn't change the fact that he improved UT in one year. He also went to USC after being told that there wouldn't be sanctions after Petey left. He got there under false pretenses of that admin and did well considering the loss of scholarships. I don't count that as a failure more than a learning lesson. I want a coach that has gone through failure. Kiffin would be my first choice.

I'd take Petrino too. He knows how to win with what he has. Give him the correct talent and we are back on track.

I DO NOT want the next hot shot that hasn't had time to learn from mistakes. We need a proven OVER TIME and at big boy football coach that we know can turn this boat around.

i'm with ya. tired of this diamond in the rough approach. it's UF. we don't need to hire norvell or some other obscure, glorified fcs coach with one or two years of experience. maybe frost or campbell, but this shite has to stop.

kelly, mullen, leach, kiffin, petrino, gundy and several other coaches are out there w/o having to resort to taking a chance on someone unproven.

if they wanna lose support for the football team, then by all means, hire someone like norvell.

Wouldn't mind Miles at Florida, but he is kind of batshit insane.

I'd rather:

Mullen
Strong
Frost

That's my reasonable list -- as in, the best hire we could make monetarily and with experience.

They all run offenses similar to what I want to see at Florida.

fricking thank you, man. That anyone would even remotely think Kiffin is even in the mix kind of disgusts me. Everywhere he goes there's controversy. Every single place. I don't want him to come here, and I know with the kind of pressure this job is he'll bolt like a little pussy in one year.

Do you really think he would leave UF? The only other school he would leave won't even hire him back.

UT was upset because they wanted him to stay. His clause in his contract specifically said there was one school he could leave for. His dream job came up. You mean to tell me if you were a coach, UF wouldn't be on your dream list?
How can you fault him for that? He got lied to about USC. If he knew all the facts, he most likely would have stayed at UT. Go look at what he did with what he had. Talk about cupboard bare. It was decimated and he still won there. Oakland? He told Al Davis not to take Jamarcus Russell and they didn't listen. Look at what he's doing at FAU. He's turned that program around in 1 year. That is a much more incredible job than what Frost is doing.

Kiffin got jobs in his youth. You don't think he's learned from his missteps? Which is why I think he's the best choice. This guy is going to be a HC at a major program and is going to have a lot of success. You need a guy that has experience. A guy that made mistakes that he learned from. You need a guy that can win.

In a heartbeat. He's been to multiple teams and has had controversy at every step.

When it was the Raiders, the Owner called him a liar and they had a terrible fallout.

He also shitted all over Florida and had a recruiting violation -- you don't remember Kiffin fricking trying to submarine Meyer?

He got fired from USC after shitting the bed and Orgeron had to save the fricking team from a losing season, man.

He left Alabama right before a National Championship to coach the fricking Owls.

Everywhere he's gone, someone had a problem or were upset with him -- he lies constantly and is a huge distraction to any program.
