I know people have been freaking out about our recent losses to transfer and academics, and sure, going below 85 is never ideal, but I mean, by my count we look pretty close to 80 here, are those losses this year really that devastating right now, or even in 2020? It looks like UF is pretty solid until 2021, so they have time with transfers and recruiting to sort of smooth this over....

Thoughts?

OK so if this is correct, UF is probably going to lose 1. Franks, 2. Perine, 3. Jefferson, 4. Grimes, 5. Cleveland, 6. Hammond, 7. Swain, 8. Buchanan, 9. Mccoy, 10. Banks, 11. Shuler, 12. Greenard, 13. Dunlap, 14. Acnrum, 15. CJ, 16. Wilson, 17. Reese, 18. Zuniga, 19. Taylor, 20. Townsend, 21. Johnson

So if all the potential juniors go pro, whcih may not happen, UF loses 21 guys of a roster that I count 77 scholarships. So they'll be at 56. So yeah... that isn't good. UF has some issues for sure from a depth perspective.

EDIT - a few updates that I wasn't aware of.. McCoy transferred. Kylan Johnson transferred. Clayton Transferred.

Starters:

QB1: RS JR
HB1: SR
WR1: RS SR
WR2: SR
WR3: RS JR
TE: SO
LT: RS JR
LG: RS JR
C: RS SR
RG: RS SR
RT: RS FR

Offensive Make Up (counting without RS):

9 Seniors.
2 Sophomores.

Defensively

DE: RS SR
NT: JR
DT: RS SR
BUCK: SR
STAR: SO
MLB: SR
MLB: SO
LCB: JR
RCB: RS SO
FS: SR
SS: JR

Seniors: 5
Juniors: 4
Sophomores: 2

So overall Starting Breakup:

Seniors: 14
Juniors: 4
Sophomores: 4

81% of our starting lineup are upperclassmen. Nothing for us to be really concerned of.

This is according to OurLads, so it can change before gameday but as far as I know, everything is correct.

Also, as far as I know: You're right for the moment.

I'm really concerned about the numbers on the Dline in 2020.

That's been my biggest fear. I think we are 100% going to need transfers, and that might not be terrible but I don't see our recruiting filling that immediate hole.

Skill positions -- I trust Gonzales and know that he can get it done for the most part. RB is fine, TEs are fine.

The season after this one, though, replacing a lot of defenders and a lot of skill positions. Third years are usually pretty brutal, so hopefully these guys are being coached up really well.

Counting WDE/OLB We have 17 DL right now and are losing 5. The current class has 4 that are all highly ranked and we are taking, like what, 2 more?

Numbers should be OK.

SDE starter is Carter, who will be a fourth year junior. Moon, Carter, Campbell, Slaton, and Conliffe will all be seniors, so that is a lot of upper classmen on the field. Bogle, Summerall, and Humphries will all be 2nd year players.

Chatfield will be a third year sophomore, I forgot about him.

So that's 8 guys with 2 years in the program, and UF is bringing in 5-6 others. I think they'll be OK.

Like I had said before: I think a lot of people are kind of traumatized with what happened under McElwain and Muschamp.

Our roster is way, way better managed at this point, even with the losses.

First, we have 12 DL returning for 2020, add in a few DTs from our commits/and any other signees/transfers. Moon is a r/s jr and will not leave early because he hasn't played many snaps and needs another season under his belt.

I don't think Franks leaves early, although he has the measurements that pros love.

I don't think many are leaving early except Wilson and CJ for sure.

Grimes will definitely go pro if he has the year I think he's about to have.

Grimes faces the problem of getting enough touches. We have a loaded receiving corp and we are a run first team. Only so many footballs to go around. Grimes does have the measurements that pros like...but his speed isn't elite and he still has a tendency to have some problems getting separation from really good DBs like Cleveland and Jefferson can imo. If he returns for senior season he will be a favorite target with so many departures after this year.

What? Grimes is arguably the 2nd fastest skill player on the team after Toney.

As I’ve updated this I’ve gotten more concerned lol. Not for 2019 but for 2020.

Calloway basically didn't play for more than one year and still got drafted.

Grimes is gone. Tall, physical, good hands and willing to fricking pancake guys blocking. No way does he stay.

I don’t think Franks leaves after this season. He would need to have a very good year to go pro after the season . The more time he has with Mullen the better he should get .

tjv while I agree with you, the NFL covets tall QBs who are at least 240-245 and I have seen several first round picks of QBs who had the measurables...but couldn't hit broadside of a barn at ten paces.

One was a Va Tech QB and one was a nole some years ago. I hope he stays to give Emory more experience and AR will almost surely be r/s but get to play some. Getting a QB 2021 commit from Carlos Del Rio is big...we can start having quality depth. Right now if Franks God forbid got injured...we have Emory and Trask that can play.

He should stay, but he will not.

The only way he stays is if he regresses or does really badly at the end of the year. Mullen's system is too QB Friendly and he has the measurables to be drafted.

I would prefer that he stay and just enjoy being in Mullen's system but a lot of guys would rather make money and he will likely already have his degree.

Franks has no reason to stay for his 5th season.

I don't think a single person here is worried about Trask or EJ taking over for Franks right now. It's not ideal, but if Franks went down it's no where near the apocalyptic levels that Georgia will have if Fromm goes down.

Franks isn’t very high on any prospect list for next year . He has raw talent but still needs to learn a lot . A lot more then he will be able to learn in one year .

I totally agree, I'm just saying that he's likely going to get graded enough for him to advance.

He is going to need a lot more time, in my opinion.
