I can see it clear as day. If uf wants a special season their starters have to stay mostly healthy.

Period. Just like 06.

Yes, if they can stay relatively healthy, I have no doubt they can challenge for the East.

Beating Bama is still not likely though.

Depth numbers alone we are fine, but I don't see any scenario where both Wilson and Henderson goes down and we have a successful season. They are A++ CBs.

That is what I've been saying all along. With how reliant we are on 1 on 1 coverage on the outside, we can not lose those guys. Depth isn't just how many back ups you have. It's how well the back ups replace the starting talent. Having good depth means the back ups are close to the starters skill wise(like our Rbs, WRs, etc) and that you can lose a few guys without significant production drop off.

The issue with our corners isn't numbers as much as it is very, very green talent behind the starters.

Beating Bama is a whole other thing. Let's just cheer for LSU to only lose to us all season

Two days out and I am in full homer mode. I don't get why Franks is not the Heisman frontrunner.

I like it.

Mullen's QBs have done historically very well in their second year under him.

Alex Smith - End up first overall pick in draft
Chris Leak - Won a national title and MVP of title game
Tebow - Won a Heisman
Dak - Didn't play till third season but he broke all kinds of awards while there
Nick - Three star kid and now the all time rushing leader for QBs in the SEC

I mean the history clearly indicates any QB Mullen has playing for him does well. Can't see why Franks can't be another name on this list of success stories.

They have a very good WR group. If Nix comes out and plays well they could be a very good team.

Sure. But that wouldn't have been fixed by Huggins or McWilliams is what I'm saying. Nor Steele. Really we'd be in the same predicament if we lost either of them anyway.

No one on the team can hold a candle to them, and I have tons of faith in Hill, Chester and Elam.

They'll never be as good as Henderson or Wilson, but no one would be. Even close.

Well never is a pretty strong word lol. You mean this year I assume, not their career.

Wilson I really, really want that kid to stay healthy. Such a good player but the injures have really hurt him. He is very, very talented.

Yes, this year. No one was going to replace them and even be near where they were without some strange circumstances.

Generally speaking, our backups will likely always be freshmen because most CBs who come to Florida don't expect to start two or three total years.

Trey Dean is kind of fortunate because he got to play all last year, but had Wilson stayed healthy he likely would not have.

We don’t have the talent that most playoffs teams have and we have a new OL. We could make the playoffs but it’s not likely.

Tough schedule - probably not a play off team because of that - but you never know!

Hey top ten and Mullen is in his second year(historically a good year for coaches).

If we stay healthy..it isn't unfair to claim we have a decent shot. We have a very good defense, and one of the best offensive minds in football who also has weapons out the arse. If he improved Franks...don't right off that chance yet.

Georgia has Coley at cord now...That guy was awful at Miami it's why no one hired him at OC after he left, nor attempted to hire him while he was just QB coach at Georgia(and he is an elite recruiter). If the guy was considered a great cord, he would have gotten a job offer quickly with his ability to recruit. That could make a big difference. Remember Addazio? Bad cord can make a big difference.

There's a reason Kirby looked for months only to promote from within. If they were his first choices they would have been hired immediately, but they were bandaids.

If we stay healthy, I'm confident we can hang with anyone in the country.

But I also have PTSD and expect us to be terrible because of Muschamp and McElwain.

We have the team to go to Hotlanta and I fully expect UF to beat the dawgs THIS year. We do have a chance to play in the CFP, we are better than most Gators realize. Screw the media led by espn which doesn't want us to dominate the state of Florida because Miamuh and noles are in the acc and espn is now broadcasting THEIR network.

Follow the money trail and no, it doesn't matter that espn broadcasts SECN because they can pimp Bama, jawja, LsU and others. the acc needs our two state schools out playing and out recruiting us. This is a FACT....and of course no link. Trust me on this...I used to work for ABC many years ago in NYC and I know what drives networks.

That wouldn’t have been a bad hire. His offense at Cincy we’re pretty legit. Plus a lot of time great talent make an good OC look great. We’ll see if Coley what can do with our offense soon enough. And before anyone jumps to conclusions I’m not saying Coley was good or will be great

A big part of the problem is just personnel and getting people into the right places. Playcalling and planning is also very important. We know what it's like because Florida has had like 90 bazillion offensive coordinators in a few years -- it's not good to have a guy who's pretty green to the system.

Not saying he can't be good, but usually getting into the swing of things takes a good season or two and even then some OCs never pan out.

This is a huge risk, but moderately high reward type of deal.

You're hoping that while at Miami he just sucked as an OC because of the talent/atmosphere. (His offenses were getting progressively worse every year.)

However, if he's successful, you have a guy you don't need to pay nearly as much money to and can have for a few years because no one had wanted him before -- thus having quite a bit of continuity for the next few years.

It's double bubble bold to make that same risk on both sides of the ball.

I’m not worried about the defense. Most felt like we were going to always promote from with. It was just a question on if it was going to be Schuman or Lanning. Pretty sure we only interviewed the DB coach from LSU who’s name is escaping me at the moment. Kirby will still have a heavy hand on that side and groom Lanning.

Offense on the other hand concerns me. Coley’s history is concerning but I do like his concepts. We’ll see quick what kind of OC he is. Chaney did some great things but he was way to choppy in his play calling.
