Latest was asked about Jeremiah Smith during the weekend visit:
Lagway didn't want to go into detail on UF's chances to flip Smith from Ohio State, but did share that he feels that he and Gators staff are taking the right approach as they continue to chip away.
"I am going to keep quiet on that one. I feel like we are doing the right stuff. That is all I will say."

I know Austin Simmons is more of a 2023 or 2025 recruit, but there is smoke he might be flipping to Ole Miss. Visited there last weekend and their On3 website seems pretty positive about it. Super strange recruitment all around, with the reclassifying 2 years early, being home schooled and transferring high schools just to play in a spring game, etc.
ETA: Seems like there is conflicting evidence on this. He was in G-Ville today and things might be looking good for us again. A lot of drama it seems like.

Kirby planned that one probably. I dont think losing him is that big of a deal but we are slacking on commitments so far. Hopefully commitments start picking up.

Georgia fans seemed pretty stoked about him, so he must be a big deal...or maybe they're more stoked about stealing someone we wanted.
Oh well...we need to do more with less this year and put some wins on the field. The studs will start trickling in more regularly.

Dont expect much this year with our QB situation - imo anyway. Napier has to get a good class with his recruiting pitch and with our big boosters helping out some. I am starting to get an uncomfortable feeling. If we get Simmons added to the 2023 class in a few weeks I will feel better though.

Up until recently we'd gladly take him or just go along with the flow.
The fact that we are starting to scoff at 3*s means things are moving in the right direction......right? Lol

we're scoffing because we were sold a bag of goods that was above taking 3*s. we've got 2 5*s on the commit list now. is that better?
to put it into perspective, we have 7 commits right now while:
Georgia has 18
LSU has 15
Tenn has 11
Scar has 9
Bama has 8 (i expect this to 10+ by the end of august)
Arky has 10
and we're sitting at 7. and it's friggin' June!
we have 2 back-to-back huge OVs coming in and not one person has committed.
yet, kirby takes a committed RB on an OV, and has them flip/commit the first night he's in town.

Yeah, here we all are thinking we'd be firmly in the top 10 this year, and after 2 big recruiting weekends, we are -1 in commitments.
To add insult to injury, we recently won golf and track championships, baseball in Omaha, even Golden killing it on the recruiting trail. Not to count out all the other gator programs doing well or that did well. Being facetious, but is football our worst performing program right now?
Either way, I'm all bought in and even plan to be there for Tennessee weekend (so far).
I think it'll just take time. The guys who showed up on the recent OV all had like 10 more visits scheduled after ours. So I honestly didn't expect to see much activity early on. Just have to keep grinding and chipping away at these top guys. 5-7 this year won't help, but 8-4 (or some massive improvements) will slowly change the narrative and outlook. Only then will guys like Jeremiah Smith really take us seriously.
