OK we play 3 games in the next 4 days in the Charleston Classic starting today with St. Josephs who actually beat UConn at UConn one week ago. Vegas has UF as a 14.5 point favorite, but don't ask me how.
Game time is 2pmET/1pmCT on ESPN2.
We could possibly play Miami in the next game and eventually Towson or UConn again. Xaxier is the only ranked team in the tournament, so if we win the first 2 there is a higher probability that we will face them on Sunday, but you never know in these holiday tournaments.
Tre Mann is still in concussion protocol from hitting his head in a 2nd half collision vs UConn so his availability for the game is uncertain.
This tournament should hopefully help us get out of our funk and settle in and play the basketball we are capable of playing.

The big problem is shots are not falling. Hit open 3s and everything looks a lot different.
I honestly think the team is playing way too tight.
And I’d very much like to see a quicker pace.

Yeah we had a few shots fall early which was nice. I'll take the W.
We play Miami at noon ET tomorrow.

Okay I'll make sure to watch the game. I forgot these tourney games have absurd times. At least we won...doesn't sound like we won by much though...we better not lose to Miami...I can't handle losing to rivals. I mean I get if they are a great team but Miami isn't great so don't freaking doing it White

Yeah I am still not happy about losing to FSU.

Johnson and Locke look good in the game(watching replay). Johnson needs to be a lot more aggressive he is a monster when he attacks the rim.

Best game of the season so far. My God Scottie Lewis is going to be a star. Working out much better than Hill and Walker did
Also Pioneer didn't make the game thread...magically we have the best game of the season hands down. We got to stop him from making these threads cause it's clear the fix is in when he does

Holidays and stuff for me.

Most of us weren't on. I don't post on the Rant on days off only post here when I'm at work. I also made both game threads for the previous games.
Xavier we played for 30 minutes our best game of the season, hands down. Towards the end we went back to the slow moving offense and began forcing up tough shots at the tail end of the clock which was frustrating to see. Still found a way to win a big game which is great.
Really wondering who will become the "guy" for this team. We have a very strong team overall, but we need someone who when these dry spells hit says get me the ball. Someone when there is a minute left demands the ball and makes the play. It seems like Nemb did pretty well doing that last game at times but I don't know if he is good enough to be that guy consistently. Lewis is a stud...I think by the end of the year he could be that guy. His defense is lock down, his athleticism is unreal, and he has a decent stroke.
Either way...long season but steady improvement these last few...hope it keeps up tonight.

I think “the guy” pretty clearly Blackshear. He’s everything that he was advertised to be, going to average a double double for the season, and we’d be crazy to not work everything through him.
This team is going to be just fine.

My worry with that is Blackshear seems foul prone, and in the tourney that could become a major issue for us. I think one of the guards has to step up and become the go to guy, at least as well as Blackshear.

Glover is the best player on the floor for UF

I missed a lot but he def speeds the play up for us. Lewis is a monster on defense though my God. This kid is so gifted.

We had four assist last night, total. All by Nembhard.
We have to improve ball movement if we want to have a big run this year.

I have no doubt been very critical of this team have they been playing better yes. Hopefully this team keeps getting better the longer they play together Nembhard may not be the long term solution at PG seems to only play at one speed never really speeds up the offense.
When Ques comes in this is a completely different team he speeds up the offense I really like the change of pace and what he brings to the game also watching Ques and Lewis has been exciting.
I really hope I was wrong on the season it is still early but this team can look really good in one game and equally as bad in another like the way they came out in the second half against Marshall( an inferior opponent)

Agreed. I mean the coaches have to see it if every fan sees it and the commentators in the game see it as well. If this team quickens the pace, they are very hard to stop. We've got a ton of weapons. We just have so many possessions where we sit for 10-15 seconds, then end up forcing a bad shot because the ball handler gets stuck in a bad situation and no movement around him to kick it to. Hopefully it changes. Team has the sky as the limit for sure.

Whelp I made the thread but still the same story it seems. Eventually everyone else will say enough of it. Just not well coached and there is not a single person that can honestly say this team is a well coached offensive team..or any team has been in three years.
Great recruiter, great guy, great defense..but the development and offense is just bad. Has been for years. He is the 8th-10th best coach in the conference, and that isn't good enough for the second best program.
Hopefully some magic switch gets turned on and he finally moves away from this style that hasn't worked for years...or we will be regretting that to early extension.

That was a rough game but not gonna overreact too much from it. Still have plenty of opportunities left in our schedule to get quality wins.

It's not really an overreaction when the problems have stayed consistent is it?
Just like Mac...that Michigan game we weren't overreacting when we turned the corner as fans and said this just isn't good enough.
White can obviously save this reaction by cleaning it up...but after three straight years of the same song and dance...it kind of seems like this is what we are doesn't it?
