Dumb question here, with Krull counting towards 2018, does that mean he has already signed? WVU transfer too?

Classes start June 28th (I believe) -- so Umstead, Shuler and Krull have all likely already started their paperwork. If you're wondering "can they change their mind" -- highly, highly unlikely.
If they've been cleared to play here, accepted and committed they'll be at Florida. Usually JUCO players have a tough time due to academics, but all's well with our current little batch.

Appreciate it. Not concerned with them changing their mind. This is quite the close to our 18 class.
Still will have good numbers for our 19 class as well.

When you look at how we closed it's almost unfair that we don't have their numbers count toward the 2018 class.
Umstead is a 3 star but it's more because there's nothing to really evaluate. He didn't camp and the like but he's a solid player for depth.
Shuler is a 3 star, but only because he hasn't been evaluated as a transfer (as is common with transfers). If he was JUCO he would easily be a 4 star.
Krull is a 4 star (he counts).
Van Jefferson is a 4 star, a very high 4 star at .9517 (3 points away from a 5 star).
And Trevon Grimes is a 5 star at .9806.
If they actually added these players to our last class, we're easily in the top ten. This is why I'm not on board with the "Mullen can't recruit" Gators who are all doom and gloom. Mullen's upgraded TE, WR and RB and wait until you guys see the pieces start to fall by the end of this Summer.

Wish we would’ve hired somebody with some energy...

Flying all the way across the country for one of your guys, and he sneaks off to talk to coach and brings over an OL to have a little off the record chat, too.

Someone who knows him personally also said Alabama was out of the race. Nick Cross is probably going to be one to commit sooner or later. I personally think he does it in tandem or the same day as Steele.

I am going to be pissed if UF takes Umstead and Trey goes to Bama.

It's possible but I still doubt it.
There's a similar thing going on at FSU with Akeem Dent, because he got his brother on as a walkon, but now that it's being finalized suddenly he wents to go out and visit everywhere (including Florida).
I've said it from the beginning: Trey will keep it on the down-low, but he's literally in the Florida Gator's commitment group. He'll be a Gator, but he wants to see the product first.
Scarlett, Davis, Perine, Lemons, Pierce and Clement. We'll run for a bunch of yards this year.

A lot of people are saying that Akeem does not end up at FSU. UF or Bama.
Umstead might be a take by himself when you consider Garcia played a lot of minutes at LB last year.

UF won't run for shite if the OL doesn't start blocking better.

If you're going off the spring game, don't. They never had the 5 best players playing on the same line.
That being said, Mullen can scheme around a mediocre line. It's a numbers game and we have drastically better athletes all over the field.
Ya'll are going to like Krull.
But: Scarlett/Davis, Krull, Van Jefferson, Cleveland, Toney. Who are you going to put one on one with any of them? Playcalling can drastically change how the offensive line plays, and hopefully Mullen is a little more motivated than our last HCs.

Sure the OL had some rough edges the past few years, but consider that the OL has a starting slate full of seniors and upperclassmen...I think we will be pleasantly surprised by the results this year. We cannot finish 75th in the country rushing and expect much success....I expect a big improvement and believe we are capable of being top 15.
And yes...the OL also was made to look bad by a QB not ready for prime time and play calling that was not all that good.
The same thing applies to our defense, which was made worse by the offense and special teams.

Riley Simonds will be committing to florida today. High 3 star from a powerhouse program in Georgia. 6’4 325 offensive guard.
Good take, like the size and seems like a guy Hev can develop.

This is one of the parts that Franks wasn't solely responsible for. His lack of pocket awareness was bad, but he shouldn't have been asked to drop back and scan when the staff had to have known that it wasn't his forte. There should have been more single read calls and we know that Mullen's offense is a little like that, much more "simple" from a playcalling standpoint. Just follow the numbers.

I've aways said, specifically about Umstead: If there is a place on the field where we need every available body there is -- it's at LB. I have no doubt Umstead will have the capacity to work himself onto the field and will be given a chance.
It's probably why he chose Florida. At Alabama there's no way he sees the field (I broke down their LB corps and they're at least two deep, plus other reserves).
