Wade sticks with OSU. Donaldson stays committed to Miami

Yeah, those were predictable.
Thought UF had a chance with Donaldon, but ultimately he sticks with Miami. Oh well.

Bishop decommits from Auburn
Says its down to UGA and UF
We need a big move for DC to turn this around

Bishop wants UF, mom wants UGA. This one will be interesting down the stretch.

I still say throw a massive amount of cash at Schiano for DC. Combination of him and Shannon would be pretty elite for coaching and recruiting.

I like the talent in this class. It's relatively small right now, but 11 of our 14 commits are rated 4 stars or better on at least two recruiting services. We need to get about 11 more commits in this class and have 6 or 7 of them be blue chips (4 or 5 stars).
I'd like for us to get guys that are good fits over anything else. This class will end up ranked between 10-12 again, so filling it with talented guys and good fits at positions of need- 3 more DBs, 2 more DTs, and one more QB, is more important than the overall class ranking. I think we'all close fine.

Like I've posted before...2 yrs isnt a long time when you consider the first year was spent just getting to know WHO were our players and getting out to meet recruits and high school coaches.
AU doesnt have nearly the academics that UF has to offer. I still say that W/Ls arent the real reason behind successful recruiting and could rattle off plenty of schools (including OURS after a 4-8 season) that had great talent landed.
Likewise, I have also posted that some of these recruits were walked to elementary schools by team coaches and had lunch boxes packed by those coaches...of course Im being sarcastic....but the truth is that a lot of the recruits we want have been wooed by suitors for years.
The other point is that recruiting isnt the be all end all or otherwise Zook would still be our HC. Its what happens to the recruits once they are signed and delivered. Would you rather have a great recruiter or a good coach who recognizes and develops talent?
In 2018 Mac will have had 3 classes under his belt and he will have the bulk of players he has signed. Right now he doesnt and you cant judge him as well as you can after 2018. If he isnt showing noticeable improvement in 2018 then we start all over again.

looks like TJ and I aren't the only skeptical gator fans.

With the way things look right now and with the committed recruits that are deserting the ship I'm afraid the NCAA would be in Gainesville the day after NSD if the Gators come up with anything closely approaching that group of players. I don't have any expectations of them signing even a top 25 class.

Agreed, there are a bunch of skeptical gator fans right now.
I could provide link after link. UF's 247 is a shitshow of doom and gloom.
There is a lot reasons to be skeptical. Offensive statistics, QB play, recruiting class rankings... on and on it can go.
On the flip side of things, there are a bunch of positives.
Doom and gloom or the next college football dynasty, I think it is somewhere in the middle.

Finch, if they finish with a safe guesstimate, which was Abolverdi's class, its good for 12-16.

Davis, Brantley, Wilson and Tabor given first round grades/projections by Todd McShay. Don't see Brantley staying with that intel. D-Line is a must.
Donovan People Jones committed to Michigan. Had us in Final 5 no one really expected us to get him.

Kirby Smart just had the same lackluster year and his recruiting is perfectly fine.
Posted on 12/16/16 at 8:39 am to TJGator1215
Im glad he's recruiting well and going 7-5. I'll take top 12 classes and SEC Championship Games over top 5 classes and 7-5 with losses to teams like Vandy, Georgia Tech, etc.

That's a very short term viewpoint. If those top classes at uga pan out you'll be not so glib about it.
The talent on paper is fantastic.
I don't think Kirby is a good coach though.

Kirby is an awful coach. You guys act like top 12 classes mean there's no talent in them. I'm not lowering the standards, but there's not a huge difference in a class of 20 players with 13 four and five stars that's ranked 12th and a class of 25 with 16 or 17 four and five stars that's ranked 5th. I'd love to have a top 5 class, who wouldn't? But if you're asking me if I'd rather have our recruiting and win and go to championship games, or UGAs recruiting and go 7-5, I would take us in a heartbeat.
Those recruiting classes haven't helped UGA beat us the last three years or 20 out of the last 26 years

So, if Mac doesn't pull in a Top 10 class, can we blame it on the Russians?
