The defense played great, especially considering our first half screw ups
indeed

Michigan offense ran a season high 78 plays and the Carolina defense held UM to 3.55 yards per play - a season low for the wolverines.

3.55 v Carolina
3.71 v Wisconsin
3.84 v Penn St
4.05 v Michigan St
4.34 v Ohio St

Wisconsin (58 yds) & Carolina (74 yds) were the only 2 games all season Michigan failed to rush for 100+ in a game.

another easily overlooked stat...

Dowdle averaged over 7 yards per tote vs UM. But he and turner only got 6 carries a piece.

To be fair, he got called in once things got rolling and before that there wasn't much there in the run game. With that long haired mongo shooting through a gap most plays in the first 3 and 1/2 quarters they could barely get a hand off.
