must be missing something. We signed 19 and Belk and the kid from southern cal count for this class so thats 21. We can sign 25. Sanders is one so doesn't that leave us with 3 more spots?
We can only sign 23 we signed 19 yea but green and shilo make it 21 now so only room for 2 more

Belk and cook xfers count tp the nrw scholarship player cap on this years class
Posted on 1/23/19 at 3:26 pm to mikeboss550
I understood that both counted but I guess this is how I messed up.
The total you can sign is 25 per class. With those 2 we were down to 23. We signed 19 and just got Sanders which brings us to 20. So I thought we had 3 left.

I got a question. With 5 people transferring out, does that mean we can bring more people in? Whats the deal there. Someone explain the transfer rules if at all possible. Its kinda bullshite that we can lose 5 ppl but still only take in a certain amount. That would leave us with a permanent deficit?
Posted on 1/23/19 at 6:10 pm to SECUSC4
SECUSC we actually need a few more to go to get to the 85 scholarship number. We can't sign more than 25 in a given year even if we lose more people.

So its possible we just have to sit on unused scholarships? Or just give them to PWOs maybe?

My understanding is we normally can take 25, but we're taking 23 for this class due to Belk and Cook counting against it. We currently have a class of 21, including JUCO Green and Sanders who just committed but neither have signed yet. Green is still working to get his academics in order, but there's a slight chance that he may miss out as well. But looks like we're now down to 2 more openings for 2019.....
Sanders was thought to be one of the 3 silents we got for last weekend, and now with his commitment, the general talk involves Sorrells and Watts being the final two.
Bad thing, in the past when we had players transfer out, we could always run out and fill those spots with more prospects, and have classes approaching 30 or more. But apparently the new 25-prospect class was made due to programs taking advantage of that, and forcing players out of their programs to make way for more talented prep prospects.
But we've had a few players choose to transfer out (Ty Williams being the latest), so without being able to replace them in current recruiting classes, that means our overall 85-man scholarship roster will end up being thin. So it can be a double-edged blade....

Ah thanks that's really helpful.
I imagine with the new transfer rule, some schools are going to have trouble with thin lineups atleast until everyone gets used to the new rule. Plus I wonder how the teams that have a lot of transfers and juniors going pro (like UGA) handle this.

I wouldnt be upset losing JUCO Green that might not even be eligible for a solid 4 year guy
Posted on 1/25/19 at 8:45 am to SECUSC4
He still hasn't made the grades so it could be a loss for anyone that signs him.
I agree about having a 4 year guy over him. I honestly believe we finally have enough depth on the line to start competing for 4 quarters.

Just give me a semi functioning pass rush. Giving QBs all day is what is killing us and our beat up secondary

Every bit of this. A good pass rush hides a lot of other issues.

4* Don Chaney Jr RB is also coming. Wonder if they are trying to sell him and Bigsby on being a 1-2 punch like Georgia?
