We still have 5 spots I think it is

I was told four (4) after Cam last night and we were sitting with someone who is usually in the know over there.

Sorrels is definitely a priority right now and another OLineman, I forget his name but I think I was told he's in Florida. Maybe two more offensive linemen, I think.

Didn't hear Jamie Robinson's name come up last night. Not sure what to make of that.

Was told though, that they expect another 13-15 to enroll early out of this next class which, again, would be huge getting them in here early and around the team at bowl time plus having them go through Spring Camp and getting them in the weight room early.

So I asked if the new weight room will, or should, have much of an affect/effect (not sure which one to use here) once it opens.

Evidently this new weight room is going to be so much better on so many levels (even though our current weight room was/is considered state of the art).

New weight room has added range of motion machines that we do not have now.

More stations ... so there will be no bottle necking or players getting out of their groove waiting to hit the next machine. (Was told this is important because they don't want to give a player too much of a breather while working their way through the cycle. The object is to work muscle groups until failure, whatever that means.)

New weight room will have the latest and greatest state of the art machines that work motion and muscles at the same time.

More free weights.

More bigger and better everything.

Plus, more computer and video monitoring that gathers more analytical data as far as how each player is performing while going through a cycle. They'll be able to review video and show a prospect where he was making mistakes in form and range of motion and subsequently be able to tweak their form to get more production out of them when they are doing their workouts.

Sounded pretty neat.

This weight room will be better than most pro (NFL) weight rooms and, when finished, at least for the time being, it will be the finest facility of its kind in the country as far as NCAA programs are concerned.

Great get. One came through and DJ was a take, but you only get so many. Didn't read article, but congrats on a great athlete and plug n play guy it seems.
Can't give flip away, but we're in no need of class separation at DB, but many hate not getting DJ. He was ready for some time and did the right thing not waiting again. Better fit at USC and another good ball player on defense. Champ has a good staff and plan. See yall soon.
Congrats!

Who are the four?

Who do we finish with?

Sorrels next week hopefully out of Largo, FL.

The big kid, OLineman up in Virginia? Jaqai Moore is it?

OLineman down in Florida? Darius Washington?

Steel one away from Miss St?

Find a surprise LB or DLineman somewhere?

Jammie Robinson, Lee County, GA maybe? (If we get him, can't wait until UGA fans insist he wasn't a take for them ... maybe that will really be the case with him, who knows?)

Jaydon Hill, CB Madison AL?

Johnny Dixon, CB, Tampa?

Marquis Bell, Coffeeville Juco DB? Probably not.

What happens with Tavyn Jackson's football scholarship? I know we are honoring it, but does he free up a spot?

A medical hardship use to free up a slot but I'm not sure with the new rules.

Med hardship allows the player to remain on scholarship without counting against the teams 85 spots, but the athlete still counts as an initial counter in the class he signed with.

most if not all nfl weightrooms actually suck

College facilities are far greater but that's pretty common.

But of course you have to remember. You aint trying to recruit NFL players with a weight room or a locker room etc, all they care about is the amount on the check. (well okay same can be said for college now too)

NFL players do their deed and they're out. College players are basically living there for 3-4 years.

Ive been in a few Pro Locker rooms compared to College and they aren't even close. Basically there for their purpose and that is all.

Yes it does. We get the scholarship back the moment the NCAA signs-off on the Medical Hardship which should be some time next week.

I don't think we'll be able to use it, or will want to use it, until the 2020 class though. At least that's the way it was explained to me. We could, technically, maybe have one extra from last year's class to put back on this class but the coaches want to have a full 25 to give for the 2020 class which is lining-up to be one of our best ever if we have a good season this year.

I've been trying to crunch the numbers on available scholarships for 2020 and still have yet to figure how they're going to have 25 to give as it stands right now.

So anybody heard anything about Belk's transfer papers with the NCAA? I assume they are still dragging their feet.

Yeah, did the Wednesday morning breakfast thing yesterday and everyone is going to be shocked if we don't get that waiver approved for Belk.

His lawyer being involved is "supposed-to" make a big difference.

Who knows with the NCAA though.

Cook is pleading the same case, to be closer to home, and evidently one of the websites is claiming he has a better chance than Belk because of distance.

But the guys I eat Breakfast with on Wednesdays ... one of them is what we might refer-to as pretty connected. He's always got the best skinny. And he told us they have got nothing but positive feedback about Belk getting the waiver.

Who knows though. We've never had a lot of luck dealing with those pricks in Indianapolis. They rarely fail to disappoint us when all is said and done.

I have no idea how this stuff works but what kind of feedback would they be getting? I always just assumed you filled out a couple of pages and then the NCAA looked at it and let you know either way. I'm not knocking you by any stretch, I'm just curious about the process more than anything.

The ncaa looks at the application then uses follow up questions for clarification. I would assume the positive feelings are due to the type of questions being asked.

Yep, they get follow-up questions and ask for more info. In Belk's case they asked for correspondence between Belk's attorney and Clemson then they asked for correspondence and conversation between Clemson and Belk's family (emails). The latter was concerning Belk's Mother from what I understand.

They also have a queue and supposedly they were inundated with requests for transfer waivers this year.

We have two people working in our compliance office who used to work for the NCAA. So they are getting feedback through both normal channels and through contacts.

Sorrels has postponed todays announcement and will take his officials before committing. Looks like Bama got in his head.

I think he probably heard it through 247. One of their people put it out early this morning evidently. I got a text about the possibility early this morning and, knowing the guy, he usually gets whatever he sends from 247.
