According to SEC Country (4 & 5 star guys) we are still in the running for a DL (Briggs) and a WR (Warren Thompson out of FL).

Wonnum and Sandidge are must haves at this point but I’m not hearing much on any other big names that we have a chance of landing.

Im guessing that the early signing period has hurt our coaching staffs ability to finish strong like we have in the past.

What the early signing period did is raise the value of the holdouts. So now everyone is scrambling for the big names still out there ... but don't underestimate Boom and staff. They're going to finish strong enough.

Of course they are, we’re fighting off UGA for Sandidge right now. They paid him an in home visit on Monday so we did the same on Tuesday.

I’m hoping that Wonnum is a lock for us but we also have extra slots available to land a few other big names. My point was that I haven’t heard of any but yes landing Sandidge and Wonnum would be a strong finish for us.

Mark Fox, class of '19 4* OL out of Miami, FL, has committed to the Gamecocks.

Glad to pick him up. Very hard to get anyone from Miami.

I like his claimed measurements...6'5" / 250. Seems like a good frame to build on. Hopefully he has the footwork and quickness to go with it.

He does.

He may very well of been the best in-state Dlineman his senior year at Silver Bluff but his grades caused him to not get a lot of attention. IMHO he's going to be a good one at SDE.

Something that I wasn't aware of at the time of the commitment, that 247 made known this morning, is that our staff actually placed Davis in JUCO. It wasn't just a happenstance offer/commitment. This was a guy they have liked for a while. also, he was committed to FSU at one point. Say what you will one way or another about the guy, Brad Lawing knows talent when he sees it.

I'm still nervous. 60-40 is where we sit right now.

UNC is trying their damndest to sell him on the home state factor and also that Deke Adams was Clowney's coach ... the call from Clowney yesterday was to clear that little bit of misinformation up in the overall scheme of things. It couldn't be seen as a recruiting call and JD is not allowed to recruit for SC so the conversation had to stay very short and succinct ... no, Deke Adams is and was not responsible for Jadaveon Clowney's success at SC ... straight from the horse's mouth.

Or so I was told.

So it's going to come down to the wire between UGA and us and I do mean down to the wire. Gotta like our odds even at 60-40 but we need to all keep our fingers crossed and hope things fall our way.

I have been told over and over again we're going to close strong with a surprise addition. No idea if it is going to be a big WR or DLineman or what ... it's gonna be fun seeing how it goes down.

All I was told just a little while ago is that our odds just got better with Sandidge now that Okie State has hired someone else ... even though Lance has been telling him he wasn't leaving, now it is a done deal.

But Mincey ... if it were just me based upon what I heard at the ballgames this weekend (and saw Dawn recruiting for us too) ... I'd say Mincey is gonna sign with us. I mean everyone seemed confident about us landing Sandidge, Wonnum and Mincey.

ETA: Warren Thompson

ETA2: So before I went to bed last night I posted this but did send out a couple of texts about Mincey to see what I could find out. Got some returned after I went to bed but both were about Warren Thompson, so I had to mention him as someone who BMac may snag this coming weekend and he would be a big get. But I was just reading an email I received overnight and found out our info is being used on other sites .... so to the two people doing it, and you know you're lurking and reading and then taking our Lance Thompson info (a couple of days ago) and our Sandidge info last night and heading straight to other boards ... lol, well at least mention this board when you do it. And yeahz no kidding, we've been saying Sandidge is going to come down to the wire for more than two weeks - Lance staying for sure helped us increase our odds but I didn't post that Sandidge is a sure thing for us now, just that Coach Thompson staying helped us. The JD Clowney call was NOT a recruiting call. As I stated it was just to let it be known that he was not a Deke Adams product. It was short and sweet and Clowney wished him good luck with his decision.

Wow thanks for the info!

Pulling Thompson would be a shocker to me IMO.

He might have the most upside of any WR in the entire country.

Yeah, from what I understand we were the first P5 program to offer Warren Thompson and we stuck with him even after he commited to Tag at Oregon. I think everyone thinks he is automatically headed to FSU with Taggert but, from what I understand - and I think this is common knowledge by now - BMac and T-Rob and now Werner are tripple Tag teaming him ... pardon the pun. Boom has already been-in for his home visit but BMac is headed-down there this weekend I think with either T-Rob or I'm not sure ... so keep your fingers crossed. He would truly be a homerun get if we get him. I'm hoping we get the other three and WT ends up being the big surprise.

The thing about that is Thompson is a FL guy who was committed to play for a coach who was at a school completely at the other side of the country. That coach is now at FSU. If he was 100% sold on Taggart, he would have committed to FSU by now.

FWIW in putting the collective pieces together I think both Mincey and Thompson have interest in joining the team but with as many WRs that we have and with as few DEs that we have it is just more likely, imo, that Mincey is the guy.
