When I woke up this morning I began looking online for anything that would if nothing else explain what was going on with our special teams last night. I finally found an article from saturdaydownsouth.com that got my attention. If this is true shouldn't Spurrier just replace Robinson instead of doing it himself? Here is the LINK and an excerpt from the article.

"Abysmal. Steve Spurrier revealed post-game he has taken over kickoff coverage duties from special teams coordinator Joe Robinson after the Gamecocks let Darrius Sims return two kickoffs for touchdowns......"

I just watched the post game...Spurrier is pissed. I thought, up to last night, that the progress Coach Joe Rob and Spec Teams had made the year was excellent. We were better in all aspect compared to where we were last year. All that was wiped out in 2 plays last night for Spurrier.

For the love of God, I have no idea why we didn't start the game doing what we did last week.

And I have no idea why it took yet another kickoff returned for a TD for us to finally make the switch back

Good. We should just squib kick it the rest of the year. That was embarrassing to watch last night.

Looks like Spurrier has backed off his original comments and will now be the assistant kick off coach. For some reason Landon Ard kicks it further at home then he does on the road, according to Spurrier, so the squib kick could be a possibility going forward. I sort of remember us having problems with this in the past and we eventually had to replace some of the younger guys with starters. Hopefully we won't have to resort to that this year but if things don't get better then it could happen.

Did he forget how to kick? Last week, besides the pooch kicks he put it in the endzone. Was it windy?

Those are my thoughts exactly. Some weeks he seems to force touch backs like it is nothing, the next week all of his kicks will be easily returnable.
