Looks pretty solid to me. I would like something in there about reciprocity, though. If these are the rules we impose on our board then we should also act in the same manner when USC posters go to other team's boards. Golden rule and shite. If we want others to act with some level of decorum when in our house then we do the same when in theirs.

If someone gets access to another teams board and then acts like a shite there, and besmirches the little gamecocks logo by their name, then they should be booted from here as well.

I would also like something in there about how we treat our "guests". If they are just getting shite on left and right, then they should be well within their right to throw a little shite back without being summarily dismissed. Let's call it the "Garnet Rule"...

1. Fully agree with the sentiment but how would we enforce it? I'm not really sure that there is precedent for a USC Fan being kicked off this board or any fan being kicked off their own board except for that one Mizzou troll.

2. Agreed and I support. It's like driving on a highway where everyone speeds - if everybody here is flinging shite then the guests shouldn't get in trouble but that should be judged on a case-by-case, thread-by-thread basis.

If we have the power to kick a fan of another team off of this board then we surely have the power to do the same to a fellow gamecock who is putting us, as a whole, in a bad light. It would be brought to the diplomacy board and they should have the same right to defend themselves as we give others. We surely know what being an arse looks like, even if it's one of us doing it. We can't clean our board up if someone who wants to represent USC fandom is dirtying up other teams boards.

And it should go without saying that this is only on the team boards. The very nature of the Rant itself, and several of the OT boards even, leads trolling there to be taken in a different light. It's almost expected...

Who?

No offense but a lot of people on the GSB seem to call you that.

I have a few rules I'd like to propose for our team board:

1. Posters are divided into two groups: USC Fans and guests.

2. Most ranters who request access and agree to abide by our rules should be granted access. A select few, the 1%, will not be granted access if they have an extensive history of being belligerently anti-USC or hostile toward posters on this board.

We can vote on applicants in the diplomacy thread, on the help board or tGW can grant access at his discretion.

3. Guests can be critical of USC, ask questions, point out flaws/weaknesses and engage in debate so long as they do it in a respectful and non-disruptive manner.

4. Blatant trolling, spamming, thread hijakcing or assorted jackassedry will constitute grounds for banning.

5. Most topics should be related to USC in someway so, speaking generally, they should be about Carolina athletics, USC as a school, Columbia or whatever might directly interest us. OT topics are fine but should be within reason - basically whatever we USC Fans deem reasonable.

This rule is to prevent the recent influx of guests from completely hijacking the board.

6. Any votes we might have should only count the opinions of USC fans. The opinions of guests may be welcome but they will not count toward the vote total.

These rules are obviously open to alteration/interpretation by tGW.

Thoughts?

I usually prefer the absence of written rules and oversight on sports message boards, but I don't mind any of these.

That seems fair. I know I do that myself. I've started a lot of threads on the main SECr poking fun at uga or other schools, but when I visit those teams boards I refrain from the "uga sucks," mantra. Like you said, when you're in a neighbors house, show some class, and if you want to get into it, take it out to the yard (SECr main board.)

At this time, I don't support this. If we do this, we'll turn against each other and turn into cockytalk. I say let the Gamecocks have their say in whatever way. Plus, I can certainly see myself writing something one day to embarrass the entire Gamecock fanbase!

I'm all for this. It's a sports message board, we should be able to have a little fun. If an outsider comes here and says, "SC's offense is garbage," and I reply with, "not as trashy as your mother (or hopefully something more clever)," I wouldn't hold it against the guy to respond with something personal back.

Got a gem of a vote for you guys. nc14 wants access, this is his reasoning:

quote:

if the board can post about you then should be able to respond. And I want an invite to the ball.

I can understand the defending yourself. (I should after all ) but I think we've all seen him have some kind of gripe against SC and tends to find his way into every SC related thread on the rant, always posting something negative. I think a someone on here accurately described it as "a moth to a flame"

With that said maybe he won't bring that here. So what say ye?

Recruitingjunkie - Bama fan - South Carolina Sports Have no problem with SCAR. Like Spurrier, mike davis is a beast, and I follow all SEC recruiting closely. I also hate Auburn lol

quote:

crispyUGA - UGA Fan - I live in Columbia, I am working on a PhD at the university, I'm married to a USC fan, and most all of my friends here are USC fans. I follow USC recruiting and team news pretty closely.

quote:

RunLindsayRun - UGA fan - Can provide recruiting information to multiple prospects including newest RB offer Mon Denson who I know quite well.
