Zimmerman found Not-Guilty. Could care less, except that I hope no hive-dwelling zombies in big cities get murdered or maimed by disgruntled animal rabble tonight or tomorrow..........

Anyway: WHat do your self-defense precautions look like these days?

Me?.....Pretty simple really.

-20 guage Browning under the bed, case un-zipped at the back, plug-removed and loaded with #8 buckshot.

-Nightstand drawer: Taurus Judge Revolver....loaded with two 000 handgun "buckshot" rounds....followed by three rounds of .45 long colt.

-In the consol of my truck (which is still currently legal to do in Georgia w/out a permit): .45 Revolver

Attention NSA/FBI Agents that monitor the internet now: As far as I know, the plug in my shotgun is only required when hunting in Georgia. Please don't come and put me in a cage for not wanting to have to reload after three shots should the shite Hit The Fan. Thanks.

THink about it!!

The way I meant it was........ "I could care less. Because............. i imagine, that if I thought about how depressing it is long enough......and how pathetic this idiot-circus is......I Could Care EVEN Less"

Translation: There is potential out there right now for me to CARE LESS!

Sheesh............

I'll put you down for: Phone by the bed, charged and ready to call 911 to have someone else come protect your family (in 15 - 30 minutes) should the reality of crime reach your door.

Thanks for participating.

My "Self-Defense" is not to put myself in stupid situations where anything like that would be necessary....

So you live in an under-ground fortified bunker?

Nice!

Hey.... What are your thoughts on rotating use of canned-goods to avoid passing expiration dates?

Or.......is this the problem with emoticon-communication?...

Never really felt the need to own a gun. Usually live in nice neighborhoods.

I may purchase a hand gun at some point. More just to be familiar w/ its use and out of curiosity, not really out of any need to protect myself.

LOL, no. I've lived in shite neighbor"hoods" and nice gated communities, rural and urban, north and south... in 34 years on this earth I've never had anything happen to my property or person at the hands of someone else other than when I was working at a convenience store for three years during college.

Was held up at gunpoint once, but gave them the money and they left. Didn't force an issue or try to be a bad-arse (dumb-arse?) and defend money that was A) Not mine, B) Insured against these exact circumstances and C) Not remotely worth my life. Several months after I found a better job another of my co-workers at that same property (a man-child who was a self-styled Martial Artist...) wasn't as smart about the situation and was shot dead.

I'm not lucky, blessed or whatever... I'm just not an idiot. It goes a lot further in protecting yourself than any amount of firearms will.

Too much pussy in him.

The day I believe on a man wearing a uniform who only received his GED in life to protect me and my family is the day I move to Canada.

I do live out in the middle of nowhere though, so it would take police at least 45 minutes to get here. I want to be able to take control of my own situation.

You fools that are "just give up your money and be cool, he'll leave".

You're trusting a criminal? And we're the ones not making common sense? HAH. Enjoy the day that the theif doesn't leave peacefully. Also there are other methods to protect yourself than having a gun.

Life is entirely too short to worry about shite that doesn't matter. Why put myself and those I care about in more danger over things. IF my person or the health of my loved ones were threatened, that would be another matter. Those are irreplaceable. That is worth defending.

But bringing more danger into the situation doesn't defend them better. For every intruder either scared off or harmed by a fire arm in the household there are as many or more innocent lives lost by simple goofing around.

It's all a matter of perspective, though. But in my, personal, opinion, my loss of property is not a greater tragedy than any loss of life. And very much not the worth the risk.

But to each their own.

I will not list my "self defense" here. If you are curious to find out what they are, you can try snooping around my house after dark.

Might wanna film it just in case you are not available to tell the story in your own words.

What kind of response are you expecting?

I respect his decision not to own a gun. And I sincerely hope that his luck continues…and he doesn’t regret that decision one day. I just wish that the busy-bodies and the finger-waggers would afford me the same courtesy……and leave me the frick alone and respect MY decision to not rely on luck and, instead, to exercise my god-given natural right to arm myself.

To me, there’s no debating it. It’s my own responsibility to protect my family and my property. And I am prepared to do that if or when it becomes necessary.

And, when I read some of this suburban mindset fuzzy-wuzzy pontificating …….I can’t help but consider myself extremely fortunate to have been raised in the culture that I was raised in. Where a gun was just another “tool”. You use them to hunt, and for sport……… and you also keep them for self-defense and pray/knock-on-wood/whatever that you’ll never ever have to use it that way. Some of you people have no idea how ridiculous you sound when you discuss a tool you’ve never owned or used.

Yes, guns can be dangerous. And…… that’s why you are taught to fear and respect them. Just like your other dangerous “tools”. Like your chainsaw or your horses or your truck or your boat or your kitchen knives, etc. These tools kill people every day. A zillion times more so than are killed by gun accidents.

Anyway, as long as you’re not trying to help some politician disarm me and make me as vulnerable as you are………..then we should all get along just fine.

Hey, I have no problem with anyone arming themselves.

Where I get a little defensive on this issue is when it is a need to have an arsenal of fifty or so guns or assault weapons that serve no tool based purpose other than to cause the most destruction in the least amount of finger pulls. These aren't the tools of hunting/sport. These are the tools of war.

Guns, within reason, I have no problem with. It's when reason is thrown out the window in the preservation of "Mah God Given Rights!!" that I throw up my hands in exasperation.
