Fro scrooster or others, seems a few years ago they were trying to build a high rise for students near a park or cemetery. Seems it was discussed on this board or tRant.
I think is was called The Core or some such. Any comments or observations of what all went down at the time and what has happened since? I think the developer was from B1G country like Detroit or Columbus.

I've never heard of The Core.
There is a student apartment development called The Hub that is managed by a group called Core Spaces (out of Chicago I think).
The Hub is a converted office building on Columbia's Main Street downtown.

Thought it was new, did not realize it was a conversion. Was there issues about interfering with some park or cemetery nearby?
Seems this just opened in the past few years and had discussion about it before.

Cheese, you coming down this weekend?
Yeah, GetCocky11 nailed it.
There are so many new student housing facilities going-up everywhere in every nook and cranny it's hard to keep-up-with at times. My Goddaughter just moved into a converted cotton warehouse off of Blossom, her parking space is actually under the bridge. They are packing them in everywhere.
Plus they just completed a new subdivision in Olympia we drove through near the stadium Wednesday ... it all just blows my mind.
Plus the University just bought the old Freightliner property on Bluff Road near the stadium and they are about to tear all that down and build some new facility .... they're using it to park their equipment and travel buses now.
Ten or twenty years from now USC will own just about everything from Senate Street downtown past the stadium and way down Shop and Bluff roads. Campus will be massive.
The cemetery stuff, they've run into that a few times already. They've moved a couple. The one I think you may be thinking about is over by the soccer stadium and is why our soccer field is affectionately known as The Graveyard. They were talking about moving that one ... I'm not sure where that stands now. I've not been over that way in probably 18 months or more. There is a lot of new construction going on over there.

Oh it's not good ... haven't you heard? LINK
Clemson fan asshat with a grudge ... probably thinks it's funny. What a stink this one has been. It may actually be what Cheese was referring-to maybe, I dunno.
It's not over 'till it's over but it's definitely not looking good right now.

Nope, some temporary health issues have me limited for the next few weeks. Wanted to come down this weekend. Still no way to reach you but I think CNB has my email addy and I am OK if he gives it to you.
Sorry I missed you earlier this summer when I was in Columbia, Charleston, and Aiken. Really want to to get down Aiken for about a week or two but probably will not happen.
Had a friend go to the zoning stuff in Charleston this summer and it looks like they are still anti development for now but a friend down there is selling their place as the mid rise stuff is starting to grow and that is what happened in south FL before they crapped that all up.

Wanted to talk to you about this some time privately. As the old guy some things that seem troubling for the next generation of SEC kids and parents.

I'll try to email CNB again and swap info.
Hope you are feeling better soon buddy. Age and stage aches and pains are a bitch.
