?

Yeah, he hasn't been seriously considering Aub or Bama. Neither are in his Top 4. You should just put these musings in the Recruiting Thread though.

If I could score a free ticket to the iron bowl, I would.

I've really never believed we were going to sign this kid anyways - although I hope we do, I'd love it if we do, I've just never gotten my hopes up about this kid.

Let's look at it from his point of view.

Mike Davis, Brandon Wilds and Shon Carson (if Carson returns) will all be Juniors.

Jamari Smith will be a Soph.

David Williams will be a RSFr.

And I get it that everyone thinks Joe Blue is going to be a LB or FB ... but trust me, that's not the way Everette Sands or Spurrier, Jr. see him. He's going to get his shot as an RB and they are licking their chops believing he can be the type of bruising short yardage all-purpose back all coaches dream of having in their backfield. He's kinda a Jacob Bush, Andrew Pinnock type back with short choppy steps, deceptive speed, good hands ... and I have heard him compared to Jerome Bettis as recently as this past weekend.

So it's not like Scott might expect to come-in and play right away. He's looking at a redshirt if he signs with our Gamecocks.

We'll see, but I'll be shocked if we sign Scott when all is said and done.

That's the great thing and the worst thing about his recruitment. If we miss then we're still stacked in the backfield. If we get him it just adds to the amazing depth. But that depth itself could be a deterrent.

Watching his film, though, I think he would a great addition. He is so fluid when he runs, making slight cuts that don't appear to mean anything but then cruising past defenders. I really hope he does end up in Garnet because he is going to have a great future wherever he goes.

Still think it was stupid to redshirt Williams

With Davis and Wilds playing the way they have, even past the injuries, I think it was a good decision. I mean hell, look at how Carson turned it on even. When you have that much talent, there's no reason to risk injury to an untested freshman.

If Shon Carson moves on, and Jamari ends up in the secondary, the redshirting Williams will make perfect sense.

If they are telling the kid in NC that Shon Carson is moving on, and Jamari is going to move to CB or FS, then it even makes more sense.

Williams getting a redshirt has been sort of a mutual agreement as well, and he's benefited from it greatly.

Wilds was injured the majority of the year though. Gotta think Williams would have gotten some PT and since I doubt he stays 5 years might as well have not redshirted.
