New Gamecocks OC Mike Bobo gets 2-year, $1.2 million/year deal. Will Muschamp voluntarily surrendered his $200K/year escalation raise to offset cost of RB coach Thomas Brown's raise (he's going from $300K to $500K on a 2 year deal).

Said this in the OC thread but since we were stuck with Muschamp and Tanner I think getting someone like Bobo as OC along with Lloyd's commitment is about the only thing to give me some kind of hope for next year.

Benefit of Muschamp surrendering that $$:

This change reduces South Carolina's commitment to Muschamp by $3 million over the life of his deal. Also reduces buyout (from $15.3 million to $13.2 million if he's fired after next season).

I'm actually happy with how the financials went down. Brown deserved a raise after his performance, and it's not like we are spending more money than already anticipated to get him that raise. Also think Bobo's contract is pretty fair for all parties. This definitely could have been much worse and at the end of the day, USC benefits from Muschamp having a lower buyout. One of the better business moves I've seen USC make recently.

Well the shite of it is Tanner said Muschamp came to HIM about it. Not the other way around.

Not surprised. This tells me 2 things.

1. Muschamp made a wise/selfless decision to help the program overall.

2. Idk if Tanner is capable of making a good business decision on his own.

As foolish as it may be, this sort of gives me an inkling of hope.

He’s done a good job proving he can’t way before this.

Been saying all along being a winning football coach is actually very easy. Realize you're not a good coach and give up your money for better coordinators. In the long run you're going to make more money based off your success. For example see Dumbo.
