I never get too excited about QB recruits ... you know the deal. The next one is always the latest and greatest.

I do remember the last time we had one as highly rated on the team though ... probably 25 years ago, may 26, 27. Wore #11 and man that kid had an arm. Could really spin it ... perfect spiral every time like it was shot out of a cannon. Wanna say his name was Wright Mitchell ... legacy player.

Then another fairly highly player came along and took his place as a true freshman. Guy named Steve Taneyhill. He could chunk it around too. Set all kinds of records (as everyone knows about Steve ... I'm being a little tongue in cheek right now).

My point is that at almost every other position on the team, if you sign a really highly rated stud we might expect him to contribute as a true, or even a redshirt, freshman ... every other position except QB and OLineman.

Anyone ever wonder why that's the case?

Hilinski new rating .9304 now with a higher bump to come once rivals and 247 re evaluate. We got us a good one coming in regardless of where his rating is.

7th best QB and 179 Overall in comp for now

Speaking of Taneyhill, the 1994 game against Clemson is one of my favorite memories as a kid. Talk about an arse whipping. We brought a load of fans up there. One of my favorite moments as a Gamecock fan.

I was there ... definitely one of the best times I've ever had in that stadium.

But damn. We thought Brad Scott was going to be special.

I was there too, I missed the 2nd half kickoff in a concession line when we returned the ball all the way down inside their 5-yd line. I believe it was a long lateral from Brandon Bennett to someone, or vice versa. Hate that I missed seeing that play when it happened, but I made up for it by staying a while after the game

I was up in Clemson for the 2010 game. Was running up those stew arse stairs of theirs from a piss break between quarters when Jeffery caught that semi bomb of a TD. It was weird watching the section around me suddenly explode while I was still going up the steps.

I was there also in 2010 and got the hook up from a friend and sat next to Alshon's dad. We were going nuts together when he caught that dime from Garcia. FYI, his dad looks exactly like him in the face, it was crazy.
