The top RB on our board, 4* AJ Davis, is coming to visit next month.

https://www.goupstate.com/article/20160628/PSPORTS02/160629664/-1/PSPORTS

quote:

"They are recruiting me hard," Davis said. "I like the relationship me and the coaches have. We talk every other day. Coach Bentley likes that I run hard every play and I'd be a very good piece to fit in with South Carolina."

He's going to wait to NSD to make a decision though.

The top Safety on our board, 4* Hamsah Nasirildeen has SC in his top 5. TRob is his primary recruiter and he said that SC and UF are recruiting him the hardest.

https://www.goupstate.com/article/20160630/PSPORTS02/160709995/-1/PSPORTS

His teammate 4* DT Rick Sandidge also really likes SC. We have help there in Concord and will at least be in this until the end.

ETA: Just got back to from the barber shop. Apparently Hamsah isn't looking to transfer to JM Robinson anymore from Concord. He was worried about Concord's QB situation next year, but now he is not. They have a 6'3" QB transferring in from Rowan who's supposed to be pretty good.

Now that Tee Higgins has landed at Clemson, you think our situation with Ortre will improve?

I know they are being recruited to different WR spots but there are a ton of WRs at Clemmy and not much opportunity in the way of early playing time.

I'm hoping us being the first school to recruit him would mean a lot.

Idk though, Clemson is the belle of the ball right now, his mom is a tater alum, his CB is over 80% clemmy. Nothing to do but wait til September I guess.

This is my personal take on it. Clemson does have good wrs right now and didn't even offer smith until things started looking shaky elsewhere. He may fall into our lap Brian Edwards style, more on him later. Secondly we have the most room for improvement when it comes to our pitch. Clemson has had about as much success as you can have without winning it all so unless they do so, we stand to make up ground on that aspect. One crucial element would be the success of young wrs like Edwards, told you id make it back to him, or Banks or pollard. If we somehow walk away from this season with a bowl win and the help of some younger players at his position it will cement the fact that he can come in early and make a name for himself. All of that to have a shot even with it there's no guarantee.

Yeah I think we are definitely playing from behind. In other news, looks like Ty'son Williams has decided to join our ranks. He does have to sit out a year though. Plans to walk on this season and then try to get a schollie for 2017. I'm sure we can find room for him, as he is very talented.

Fedora's decision to NOT give Ty'Son Williams the release is hurting him and UNC more than he realizes. This was a huge strategic error on his part. There are several HS coaches I know who called "bullshite" on this. This is really some of the best negative recruiting ammo that another coach can have.

I will be surprised if smith lands in a Carolina uniform. Clemson is flat out getting whomever they go at right now they're starting to turn in to bama at certain positions in the way that they can be loaded at a position but kids are still willing to go there and risk riding the bench for a whole season

I think this may honestly turn into another Bryan Edwards situation. Clemson didn't even offer smith of the bay Cuz they wanted Rodgers and Higgins. Both have committed. With the depth they have, Smith may not get an offer for wr and they go after him for dB.

They have already offered him as a WR....

Yes but things change moving to nsd. All I'm saying is if they get Higgins and Rodgers they might back off of him at the position. They have 11wrs already with only one that is likely headed out. I just don't see them bringing more than 2.

Honestly I would think he is a take for them simply to keep him out of Columbia. At this point, the more you gain out of the state, the less there is for us. Clemson is a sexy program right now having just played in the Natty so they're already attractive to all the good in state players, making it easy for Clemson to pile on good recruits.

Oh I'm sure he's a take. Bryan edwards* was a take. The question remains is he a take at wr and if not will that throw the balance in our favor. They gave up an under armor all American last year because the numbers didn't work. If they don't this year it could be more of the same.

Sounds like Jaymest Williams is really feeling the Gamecocks. According to some recruitniks, he may be a silent commit to SCAR. If Champ can close the deal, you’d be getting one of the best football players in this class. His only knock is height, but he plays like he’s 6’3.

That would be a big move to get him. CB is the highest position of need this cycle and as a team overall. Hopefully it works out for us.

After Captain Munnerlyn, I'm not the least concerned about a 5'9" CB, if he can ball, he can ball. Captain is still balling in the NFL going on 7 years, and will likely be playing longer.

What is the prevailing thought from Carolina insiders? I’ve read from two 247 national writers that say he is already a silent. Contrary to what others are saying, UGA is still pushing for him. He may not be the top CB on their board, but he is considered a “must-get” because of his relationship with others in the state.

I think the prevailing thought is "God we need this guy."

July Cook - Out attendee list so far:

2017 WR OrTre Smith (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.)
2017 LB Sherrod Greene (Rocky Mount, N.C.)
2017 DL M.J. Webb (Madison, Ga.)
2018 QB Dakereon Joyner (North Charleston, S.C.)
2018 LB Dax Hollifield (Shelby, N.C.)
2018 RB Master Teague III (Murfreesboro, Tenn.)
2019 WR Jacoby Pinckney (Roebuck, S.C.)

2017 Commits visiting:

LB Davonne Bowen (Piedmont, S.C.)
OT Summie Carlay (Laurens, S.C.)
OT Eric Douglas (Charlotte, N.C.)
LB Eldridge Thompson (Memphis, Tenn.)
QB Jay Urich (Piedmont, S.C.)

Any additions? Also would like to note that this means OrTre will have been on campus twice this week and says we have been recruiting him the hardest. (as we should be) LINK

I saw that about the national writer's thoughts. Our insiders just say he is favoring the Gamecocks right now. I think he's a smart kid. He knows he could go a lot of places and earn playing time, however, looking at our depth chart it doesn't take a rocket scientist to even figure out that he'd have a real chance of starting day 1.

This would be a big steal from the state of NC. and this would be his 2nd visit this summer. I saw him play last year, he either has elite level instincts or spends a shite ton of time watching the other team's game film.

Really overall great athlete. I don't get to see many 3A games though as I don't have any cousins in that division.
