I have 0 desire to become a member but agree with him 100% that we should never have a non grad on that board to protect its integrity.

Theres the breakdown I was looking for SCLIb. I'm fully aware of who Burroughs is. As I've lived in Horry County for a decade. So how do we change how the BOT is created? Why is it that the BOT isn't voted on by alumni? Why is it even a political office at all?

Make sure Gamecock alums and fans run for and win legislative seats. Right now that's the only way we can hope to amend existing legislation governing the university and the BOT selection process. The Senators who represent Horry County (Rankin and Hembree) are both die-hard Gamecocks who would support the changes I've discussed. Our House delegation is a different story altogether. I personally refuse to vote for any Clemson alums running for the legislature, as they will actively work against reforming the University of South Carolina.

Ok, ok, all of this BS political stuff is too much to direct. Can you simply tell me this, is or is not Ray Tanner directly in charge of hiring our football coach?

On paper yes. But Ray was hired specifically because he couldn't do the job. He's a baseball coach, not a CEO. But our BOT loves him specifically because he's an idiot who'll do their bidding in exchange for their continued support.
