So I have a question...

Clemson 38-31 vs NC State
Us 35-28

so....

the NC State results are almost identical, indicating there is not much difference between the strength of the two teams?

Transitive Property does not apply to football....we will need to play almost a perfect game to beat Clemson

Not to mention, these games are 2 months apart, and we had Deebo for the NC State game who was a HUGE factor. Not saying we don't have a chance, but yeah it's tough to draw that conclusion from just those games.

IMHO, the game is going to hinge on what Clemson's D-line does to us. If we can hold them in check (and I think we can), we have a chance. Clemson's secondary is vulnerable. They were playing Ray-Ray McCloud, one of their WR's, as a CB last week vs NCST. If Jake is on point, we can beat them.

On defense, we have to spy Bryant to eliminate him hurting us with his legs (Calling Skai Moore.) While they are still a top 25 rushing team, Clemson doesn't have a 1000 yard rusher for only the 2nd time since 2011. Bryant is their leading rusher. We need to make Bryant beat us with his arm.

The tiger fans are already predicting a blowout. It will not be a blowout. I just hope our guys remember last year. I said it at time time, and I still think it holds true today, you don't run the score up in a rivalry game. The players have long memories and it will come back to bite you in the @$$ down the road.

Sorry but I disagree completely with this.

If we have the chance I want to score 80 on them and keep doing it into the end of the 4th.

Also do you not think Jake saying Clemson was not that much better than us helps them?

Does the "bulletin board material" cxl out?

I think that's all a load of bull shite honestly. If you aren't just as intense for each game you probably shouldn't be playing big time d1 football.

IBG,

I hear you, and can't disagree with any of your points. If we beat the taters by 80 this year (or any year) I won't complain one second.

I guess all I was saying is that for good or bad, a butt whooping like we took last year leaves a lasting mark on the rivalry.

It does, you're right. But it's just a football game.

They already won another title and hold the series lead over us.

I've pretty much conceded that they're better. Life goes on.

Better doesn't mean unbeatable.

of course not. we beat bama once.
Beat UK when they were the #1 team in basketball a few times as well.

I'm just not losing any sleep.

frick as I've said before living up here I'm happy to find clemson fans (really mostly alumni). As it brings some sort of southern bond we have in a city which the majority of the college football fan base roots for Michigan, Notre Dame or Penn State.

I sometimes get from our fan base (and maybe it's because I haven't been around others really) that some people hate Clemson more than they like South Carolina

The only people who I could see feeling that way are ones born, raised, and still live in SC. My grandfather's two favorite teams are SC and whoever is playing Clemson. On days when we lose, it really helps ease the pain for him when they do too. He graduated from SC in 1957, has lived in state for all of his life minus a couple of years in the military prior to that, and hates Clemson with an absolute passion. He would definitely be one that you could get that vibe from.

The best example of that was in 2013 when we lost to Tennessee. He was devastated until Clemson got destroyed by FSU later that night. He called me and sounded like a kid on Christmas morning after that beat down.

well wouldn't you say that's a fairly large % of the fan base?

shite you can even throw now live in Charlotte there too? it ain't that far and the city does have both Alumni/Fanbases.

But yea i have family members like that too. That actually watch the clemson games. Like when they lost to Cuse, YOU SEE THAT CLEMSON LOST?

No sorry Uncle Rick, It's a friday night, i prefer to not watch a team I don't root for.

Majority of the fanbase, yes, probably. I guess I was taking into account alums, like yourself, who live in other cities/states, or those who didn't grow up in SC but went to school here. Their hatred for Clemson isn't nearly as intense, and they definitely don't get the joy from them losing that the others do.

One of my favorite quotes from CWM came earlier this year when he was asked about Clemson. He basically stated that he didn't give a damn what they were doing and was only concerned about us.

Another question.... If Clemson is cheating, why aren't we?

Everyone cheats already. They're just doing it in new and exciting ways a la NewSpring Church.

Also they're pouring cash into football at the expense of all their other programs.

We cheat too but our bagmen have to compete with the rise of Clemmy and UGA at the moment. Also we haven't abandoned our other programs, a la Men's & Women's BB, Baseball, etc.

really couldn't care less about these two.

They don't make money and no one cares about them on a national stage.

Need our bagmen to start paying for recruits, not making a sand volleyball team.

"If we're cheating, we need to get better at it..."

I don't know who said it, but it's funny.
