yeah definitely some bad memories here. The first away game I ever attended was 2000 usc. I'd been going to home games since I was 3 so I was jacked to see us play on the road. I always attended games with my aunt and uncle and grandparents as my parents weren't ever as diehard about it as the others. My dad checked me out of school early that Friday and we drove up and stayed at a dingy hotel somewhere. Needless to say it wasn't a pleasant game for us, but there are certain memories that would be impossible to describe that I'll never forget. There was a certain smell, not a bad one by any means (not trying to pull the whole "lsu corndog" thing here), kind of like fresh hot dogs and grass sorta. I smell it at Sanford a bunch too. It always makes me think of that game though. I also remember the angle from out seats of seeing Quincy pitch on an option to give us our first score, and seeing us in white jerseys for the first time. It was all down there obviously. That was the only game me and my dad ever attended together so obviously I wish it would have turned out differently, but I'll never forget being at that game.

WG or any other Dawgs...

How is Creature Comforts? I am supposed to be meeting a few people there on Saturday before the game. We don't have a tailgate spot or anything down there this year, so are going the brewery/bar route pre-game.

I've never been to the location so I can't speak to the place but the beer is really good.

You'll love it. I haven't met anyone who didn't.

Awesome... looking forward to it.

Reasonable walk to the stadium from there?

It's probably about a mile but shouldn't be too terrible. You'll go downhill to the game and uphill back. Lumpkin street is where I came by your tailgate years ago, CC is about the same distance or a little farther from that spot to the stadium but going the other way, if that makes sense.

Thanks for the info. We are going to try to get into town about 10 and find somewhere to park. Grab some food, then some beers before the game.

Honestly, probably the best time I’ve had in Athens. We got into town around 10 and parked. We ended up going to Blind Pig to eat, then walked over to CC for a little while before heading towards the stadium I had some friends in the parking deck at the corner of Lumpkin and Baxter, so we hit up their spot for a few more beers right before the game.

After the game we went to Clarke’s for a couple of beers and to wait on traffic to clear out. Ended up getting back to Columbia around 1:00. Overall a good trip. Blind Pig was solid, and CC had some good beer and a cool atmosphere.
