They had two weeks to prepare and get healthy. That was no fluke.

Let's see we can do to back that up.

This really was the best defensive showing I have seen under Muschamp. Any truth to the idea that he called the defense again this week?

Muschamp calling defense will forever be synonymous with him wearing glasses for me, so I’m going to go with yes.

Where is this coming from? Muschamp was specifically asked this after Kentucky and he denied it. Doesn't mean he's telling the truth but has anyone in the program confirmed that?

Do you think he would publicly admit that? The info came from someone close to the athletic department and I can attest that he has been 100% on his info the last few years.
Do you think Trob just out of the blue said he was switching to a 4-3 defense?

I'm watching this game for the third time right now and the battles in the trenches between our DLine and UGA's OLine was brutal. Our guys definitely were out to make a statement. Honestly though, our OLine played their asses off as well.

I am the one who said that muschamp called the defense for Ky. That happened..

I dont know if he did yesterday. People are probably assuming he did it yesterday. I certainly didn't say that..

But, i am of the belief he probably had a hand in the calling of the defense yesterday since he knows kirby well.

Take that for what it is..

So I don’t get it

What’s the point of having a DC if you don’t call the plays?

To coach up a group of up and coming elite defensive back.

So isn’t that a DB coach?

It just means he has all the responsibilities of a normal DC throughout the week, but he isn't calling the plays during a game.

Or is that Saban?

I also had the same observation on Saturday. Our interior OLineman have been pass blocking really well. Makes me concerned for next year when we won't Stanley. Rhodes and Gwyn are anchors but we have to reload at the C and T positions to continue improving.

I'm positive about next Saturday's game. Unless as some UGA fans have said, UGA wasn't prepared to play us or was looking past us or the noon game caught them sleeping, or any of the other million excuses I've read since Saturday.

UGA came into the game with a bad-arse OL, and even after the loss, still leads the SEC in QB sacks allowed, TFL allowed, and rushing offense.

Florida, on the other hand, has a OL that really, hasn't been in UGA's OL's league. Theirs is even worse statistically then ours, for most of the stats. They do not have a strong rush offense. So our DL doesn't even have to repeat what it did against UGA, and it should still do well as long as they were prepared well this game week.

Meanwhile, Florida may be missing two of their best defenders on LB and DE to ankle injuries, but that's a game-time decision for them. Florida still have a stout defense - they lead the SEC in QB sacks and TFL, but they got 19 of their 26 sacks, and 34 of their 51 TFL from Miami, UT-Martin, and Towson State. Our own OL has been pretty solid, thus far this season.

Biggest issue IMO for us is our QB status for the game. If we are not able to have a consistent passing game, Florida's defense will make us one-dimensional offensively. Our RBs will need to be strong Saturday. Also, our secondary needs to repeat the UGA game more than our DL does, IMO. Florida's offensive strength is their passing...

Dont know if this has been said, but I've heard that Muschamp has gameplanned and called plays for the defense the last two weeks in a row. and it shows. Hes fed up with TRob and looking dumb.

Apparently TRob is now the "Top Defensive Assistant" and Champ is the DCoordinator and head coach. Gotta do what you gotta do to save your job I guess.

Thoughts are TRob is a lame duck until the season ends, but I'm ok with keeping him as a puppet and just have Champ be the DC.

Also thinking the glasses showed up once he started calling the plays, obviously.

Muschamp got the Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week from the UGA win. If he is calling the defenses I doubt he will be slowing down now. I'm expecting to see him wear those glasses even more now.
