He's out. Academics didn't pan out. Weird they just found that out today and not 2 weeks ago, so something must have just popped up.
I don't think this is like the King situation. King just needs to take 1 more class and get a C+ or better this semester. 247 said they're removing Tyren completely, so that sounds like he's unlikely to qualify after the spring.

Tyren looks to be super talented, but you have to question the competence of a kid who can't make the grades at JUCO.
Obviously, I was very much looking forward to him playing for us, but I think it's better to lose him now than him making it to SC and not qualifying at a later time.

Kendall at the State spoke with Jones, he said that the plan is still in place for him to get here this summer. He has to graduate JUCO first, but that was already the plan. Either 247 misinterpreted something someone told/wrote them, or Jones is in denial, or Jones doesn't know what's going on with his own academic situation.

Well, I hate that Tyren Jones isn't gonna make it ... we could'uv used him, but the other two that appear to be headed this way make me happy.

247 seems pretty adamant that he's not signing anywhere. What I'm trying to grasp here is WTF didn't we know this before we accepted his commitment. We had to have looked at the transcripts before we officially offered. There has to be something more to this, like he just got in trouble or something. Hopefully they work it all out and find some way for him to get here this summer. He'd be a big boost to the RB situation this year, he could've started or at least be in the 2 Deep.

I will restate what I said on 247. Here is the timeline of what happened yesterday: SEC Country comes out and says that Jones won't sign with us on Signing day. SDS and 247 come out later in the day and site academic reasons. JC at 247 then comes out and says that it is possible that Jones can do what is needed by May to enroll. This morning Kornblut, I know I know I have mixed feelings on him too but he is the only one to actually have a quote from Jones, comes out and says that Jones doesn't know what the big deal is. His plan was always to sign on in May and that everyone involved on the USC side knew that. Apparently the way that he left Bama caused some speculation at the NCAA and they looked into his transcripts and he has done/is doing what is necessary to come here.
Moral of the story, doesn't seem like anyone really knows.

3* WR target Korey Banks has a good highlight reel from his SR season. I get why bama offered in Dec and why we were pushing for him hard this past month.

He's legit fast, not 4.3 fast, but probably at or below 4.5. He's elusive, makes quick cuts, runs good routes for timed passes, he also avoids big hits and protects the football after the catch. He's not the biggest or the fastest WR in the class, but he makes a lot of plays and does a lot of things right. He has really good vision and can see the space develop in front of him, he uses his blockers well, but doesn't try to saddle them for so long that he gets tackled from behind. The speed is there, it was obvious he was the fastest guy on the field most of the time in these clips. He made a couple leaping catches that were nice, he can get up in the air, I bet he has over a 30 inch vertical leap and I wouldn't be surprised if he can hit 36 inches on it either.

That's what I got from Josh Kendall's article yesterday, it was always the plan for him to come in this summer. I think everybody knew that, b/c he didn't enroll already this spring semester.
There might be some technicality about signing a player who was removed from a SEC within 1 year of being dismissed. (He was dismissed last March) So technically we can't count him as a signee tomorrow, but we can bring him in this Summer I session.

Today is happy news.
In defense of the guy on 247 .... I would imagine that he was getting his info from the same place everyone else was .... someone over there was fricking with us yesterday OR it must be something Jones said.
