1-on-1 with Cavin Ridley:
quote:

“I’m probably going to make a decision at my All-American game,” Ridley, who is playing in the Under Armour game, said. “I’m looking at Alabama, Tennessee and South Carolina. This was my first official visit. I’ll talk to the other coaching staffs to get a better feel for how they’re doing things. It may not be as good as an official, but it’ll work.”

“Coach T-Rob is the coolest,” Ridley said. “He understands the kids he recruits. He’s a good guy. He’s a big part of the reason I took a visit here.”

“They’re making a lot of changes and I really like the changes that they have,” Ridley said. “Coach Muschamp is a change and all the coaches are a change. I feel like they have the facilities going, they have new things being built.”

“Just to be the main guy in the offense,” Ridley said. “They want to get me the ball, move me around and do what I do best.”

“No team has a lead right now,” Ridley said. “I understand people think I’m going to Alabama because of my brother, but I have to be my own man. I’m not sure where I’m going to go yet.”

“South Carolina helped themselves this week,” Ridley said. “They really stepped up.”

1-on-1 with Jamarcus King:

quote:

“I had a good time and enjoyed everybody,” King said. “I enjoyed the coaches. Everything stands out about the trip. I got to hang out with the players, talk with the coaches and eat.”

“South Carolina is in the top three,” King said. “Auburn, Arkansas and South Carolina, but that’s in no specific order. I have to decide next week.”

“They talked about early playing time,” King said. “They are looking for me to come in and play a key role in the defensive scheme.”

“Playing time is important to me,” King said. “I’m looking for a place where I can go where they treat me like a family.”

Sounds like McIlwain has pretty much made up his mind he's coming to Carolina. I'd be shocked if he didn't...as hard as he's working other guys to come here as well.

Edwards locked his twitter account for a while today...I believe he's unlocked it now but I'm not sure why he locked it to begin with. It was after he tweeted "It's been real, USC"....which certainly didn't leave me feeling too confident in him coming here.

But not long after than he began tweeting the pics of him in the Gamecock uni along with hashtags reppin' us. I have not seen him tweet a single thing about Clemson, however. Not once. Hoping that's a good sign for us.

I'd love to know the names for the WR coach that Muschamp mentioned to Edwards. Hopefully that decision will be made sooner rather than later.

If the rumors are true about targeting McClendon, nothing can happen until after the first of the year, as he's still coaching UGA in an interim role.

That's a helluva get, if true.

Absolutely. And I don't doubt that if Muschamp really, really wants him, he will somehow get him here.

I really am amazed at his ability to "sell"...I can definitely see why he's called The Flipper now.

I may look back on this post a year from now and shake my head, but I just have a damned good feeling about this...he seems totally and completely hell bent on shoving the words of his doubters down their throats. And the whole atmosphere at Carolina is so different from both Florida and Auburn. He will get the support that he didn't get there. He will have loyal fan support from a fan base that is a helluva lot more patient than what he's experienced previously...administrative support..you name it.

My cautious optimism is growing by the day. His work ethic is just unbelievable. He said "blue collar" and he damned well meant it, obviously.

It appears Mark King has chosen us by his tweet:

Visit was a success!

It had pics of him in his Carolina uni along with the Carolina emoji.

Someone replied "Commit?" and King tweeted back "yep".

And Brandon McIlwain's dad tweeted this:

And it had the picture of Brandon in his Carolina uni beneath the tweet.

Really hoping both of these mean what they appear to mean...Brandon's dad tweeting that makes me definitely think the decision has been made.

His highlight reel is impressive, he made a lot of plays on easy balls, but he read the QB and got in position to do so.

Yeah a lot of those balls were ducks. But he caught them, that's what counts.

Also is anyone else slightly disturbed by the lack of OL targets we have? I know we're young there, but we'll only have 3 if Cushenberry walks.

We got hit in that position too with the coaching change, but since we're keeping Elliott now as OL Coach, we'll be ok.

We had a lead at one point for 4* OT Landon Dickerson and 4* OG John Simpson. However, with all the garbage we fell out of favor.

3* Leota is going to be a good one. He just started playing football in HS and he's still learning the position and game, but he has all the size, athletic ability and attitude to be a great wone.

3+ Putnam is solid, but didn't have a huge Sr season. I saw him play in person and he was really good, but he's not a 4* and he won't be ready to play in the SEC for at least 3 seasons.

We took 6 OL last year. 4* HS All American Pellage is the future at starting LT, he'll be great and 3* Camper actually had the best 1st year out of the OL we brought in.

Next year's OL will have solid leadership. Helms will start at C or LG, he would've started this year had it not been for the transfer rule. Zandi will be a SR at RT. Bailey will start in the interior. Waldrop will have a shot at LG or RG. Knott at C or LG. Stanley, Park and Pellage will battle for LT. We will actually have a good looking 2 Deep.

3-4 OL targets sound about right, since we brought in 6 last year. If we can get Simpson, that would be huge.

Any word on Bryan Edwards? I know he said he "might" announce his final choice today.

Not coming today, may announce tomorrow.

I think SC is in good shape, will probably commit. clemson wants him as a S but he's a SEC level WR all the way.

JUCO OT Commit, Akeem Cooperwood, was named 1st Team JUCO All American by the NJCAA.

https://njcaa.org/sports/fball/2015-16/all-americans/index

Solid evaluation by Elliott, he chose him over Julius Ashton and it looks like Cooperwood graded out higher this year.

Some notes:

2* S Daniel Thomas on his offer.

quote:

"At first, it was just nice to get an offer,” he said. “But then I realized that South Carolina was an SEC offer and really it’s just a blessing from God to get an offer from a school at that level.”

4* WR Bryan Edwards:

quote:

As of Sunday, based on information from contacts, it looked good for South Carolina to get him back in the fold. That being said, it’s impossible to ignore the momentum Clemson has as a program right now and he does have family ties to that school. I can tell you that the Gamecocks are doing everything they can to get him and they consider him a huge piece of the puzzle for this class

-Gamecocks have contacted current AU commit 3* DL Nick Coe.

4* in state WR, Bryan Edwards, is the 1st Commitment of the Muschamp Era.

https://southcarolina.247sports.com/Board/44/Contents/Edwards-commits-to-the-Gamecocks-42045198#M42045268

He did decommit, took a couple visits, but now he's back in the fold.
