#1 JUCO reacts to Carolina Offer:

quote:

"(Former Gamecocks and current Houston Texans defensive end) Jadeveon Clowney is a player that I try to mold my game like," Kongbo said. "So it's a blessing. I am real excited."

McIlwain update:

quote:

Heard McIlwain and his family loved what they heard from Roper and Muschamp in their meeting this morning. McIlwain is already familiar with many of the concepts he will be asked to run in Roper's offense, it will just be on a more complex level.

More news on 3* TE Kyle Oliver (JUCO):

quote:

Tight end Kyle Oliver (Jones County Junior College) will make an unofficial visit to South Carolina on Sunday.

Oliver is eligible to enroll early. The scouting report on him is that he projects best as a flex tight end with good ball skills and speed.

South Carolina has not yet offered, but could very well be the destination if they do. He is being recruited by Gamecocks running backs coach Bobby Bentley.

3* WR Samuel Denmark recaps his official visit:

quote:

"It was a good visit," he said. "It was definitely better than what it was when I last was there. They talked to me about coming there. They said they had been looking at me for a long time. I am trying to get comfortable with the coaching staff."

"They said they were surprised that the old staff didn't offer me and that they didn't really know what they were doing as far as not offering me," Denmark said. "But they really wanted me as soon as Muschamp got the job. They said that they wanted to get to me. It definitely (took my interest down) in the beginning of the process because I grew up a Carolina fan and always wanted to go there and went to all the camps and everything.

"But with the new staff there I didn't want to use that against them since they didn't have anything to do it. I am still just thinking about (a final decision)."

"I spoke with (Gamecocks offensive coordinator Kurt Roper) about the offense," he said. "They said that they have not hired a receivers coach yet, but that they will probably find out soon about one. That does play a big factor in my process because I do want to know who is going to be coaching me."

Some tidbits from JC that we haven't heard about:

quote:

-If South Carolina offers JUCO tight end Kyle Oliver, he is committing. I heard what happened at Tennessee wasn't that "big of a deal" and people who have interacted with him believe he's a good kid. He's a raw football player but a heck of an athlete and has four years to play three.

-Universally, everyone I have spoken with who has talked about the "offensive plan" with Kurt Roper or Will Muschamp is impressed- that goes for recruits, parents and other coaches.

Nothing new really, JC said he may OV in January but still think he's a long shot atm.

Carolina gotten involved with FSU 4* CB Commit Jamel Cook. Auburn was a big contender for him when TRob & Muschamp were there. Cook May OV in January:

quote:

"I don't know yet," Cook said of potential destinations. "I would probably go to Bama, UM (Miami), South Carolina. That is all I have in my head right now."

ETA: He's also teammates with 2016 Target 3* DE Keir Thomas.

Call me crazy, but if Roper and Bentley can get Feaster in for an OV, he'll flip.

Have no inside information whatsoever, but just a hunch from reading some of his quotes. He's definitely curious, but Dabo is all up in his head right now. Get him a trip to Cola, and he'll flip.

A very minor update, but an update:

-- I was told that all of the visitors seem to be having a really good time. There was a dance competition between the recruits last night and I believe Cavin Ridley was declared the winner. But I've been told that the group has had a really good time hanging out together.

-- A lot of the time spent today was meeting with coaches, academic advisors, seeing the campus, visiting the dorms and seeing some of the sights around here. I'm not sure yet what the players did for meals today.

-- The players and families will meet for a final time with Will Muschamp tomorrow. They'll also do some things around Williams-Brice Stadium.

-- The players will leave late morning/early afternoon. We'll have detailed updates after their departure.

I have a cousin who is (I'm ashamed to say) a long time booster at tater tech. (He's the one that got my bro there bc he has pretty much free access to all of the football facilities/DV/etc)

Anyway, he's been in touch with my bro who passed along to me today that CU is "extremely aware of and concerned" that Muschamp will, indeed, flip Feaster should he OV.

I cannot even explain how insanely happy this would make me...if for no other reason than to shove it in my bro and cuz's faces every. single. damned. day.

Bryan Edwards update:

quote:

- I spoke with a source familiar with how Bryan Edwards' visit is going. This source said Edwards has been very pleased with what he has learned about Kurt Roper's offensive philosophy and the scheme he plans to implement at South Carolina. I also was told Brandon McIlwain and CJ Freeman have been working Edwards hard and doing their best to help the coaches recruit him. Edwards plans to make his announcement next week between South Carolina and Clemson.
