Prince said we're in his Top 7, which is a little odd since Mangus (he's lead recruiter,) and the other coaches haven't been in contact with him for a while. He's had us in his lead group for a while, but I don't know how much we've pushed for him. The coaches probably have their reasons.

I wonder how they would handle a situation like that? A kid they don't really want (total hypothetical, not saying anything regarding Prince), but who is such a high recruit that his wanting to go here shouldn't be ignored. If there was a recruit who was being lauded as a homerun get, but that they personally didn't think would either fit the program or pan out in the long run, and he wants to commit... what do you say? Thanks, but no thanks? Could you do that without it leaking out and hurting this kids prospects elsewhere?

I don't think you hurt the prospects chances elsewhere but the coaching staff sure looks dumb.... Quinshad Davis comes to mind

But, conversely, if we had taken Davis over the concerns of the coaches and he did't pan out here... is that dumber? He's in a system that works for his skill set. Just because he prospers in their system doesn't mean he would have done the same at USC.

Q Davis' handling wasn't awful, but I think we should've made room for him in hindsight. We told him and the other 3 (Kwinton, Jody and Shaq) that we were taking 3 WR's that class. The other 3 guys jumped in quick during the summer and Davis was left out. It sucks, but that's the way it went down.

No a coaching staff is always going to take more heat for not taking someone that produces somewhere else than for taking a guy that doesn't produce with them.
And for the record I'm not saying the coaching staff was dumb for not taking Davis but some fans think that way and you have to admit it does look bad.

This is all just hypothetical BS, so I don't think we're taking anyone's views here too seriously.

Wesley Green is coming in for the uf game. His coack at MLK is a uga grad and has been pushing him to uga. That goes on all over for different teams, and we've benefited from that as well. BAW will be here for Green's visit and hopefully that will be the final push we need to get him to recommit.

and just like that, we're out of Prince's Top 7.
He listed a lead group of 7 in order, and USC wasn't one of them.

Anybody from Gaffney/Spartanburg know how serious Shaq Davidson's injury is?
Posted on 11/9/13 at 9:29 am to UpstateCock2007
I read that he's been declared Out for next week, the person said they heard it on the radio. A helmet hit his knee (the other one that wasn't injured last time.)

I know that uga is trending right now for Wesley Green predictions, but I read something interesting on cockytalk. Last night was his school's Senior night. Supposedly each player turned in their bio to be read over the PA system. For Wes' announcement it was read over the PA that he will be attending the University of South Carolina next year.
I read it on the internet though, so take it for what it's worth.
ETA: The local paper there is saying it's just a sprain, and that now he will wear a brace and play next Friday.

What's this buzz about Abu Lamin maybe switching to Tennessee?
Posted on 11/10/13 at 4:54 pm to AtlantaSportsGuy
He's not, he visited them without his mom last weekend. They are selling him on not having many returning DL and that they are brining in several JUCOs. He said he really likes the staff there. He said that right now it's b/w SC and Tenn. He has a month to decide. His mom ins't pushing him to SC, but she's just been reminding him that SC is what he's been talking about for months and that he's thinking about Tenn b/c he just visited there.
He's a great DT with 3 to play 3, hopefully he sticks with USC.

Just offered a Ath/Wr out of Va. Jamil Kamara
Posted on 11/11/13 at 8:35 pm to CockInYourEar
We also offered Abu's 4* OG teammate, Kareem Are.

I wonder if this means Cann is going Pro early?

Davis waited too long, plain and simple. He came to almost all of our home games that season and I talked to him every single weekend.
Even after we extended a late offer for him to grey shirt, he turned it down.
Our coaches did every thing they could have done with him. Our class was overbookef by the time he called and finally said he was ready to pull the trigger.
Then he tried to call Tennessee but they were full as well. So he jumped on the UNC opening and it has worked out well for him. He's a good kid.

Jhaustin Thomas was named Defensive MVP for his JUCO conference.

Hope he steps up his game in the classroom and not just on the football field, or he will be competing for the repeat award...

Anthoney Moten is deciding tonight at 7 between Miami, Florida State, and South Carolina. Sadly, highly doubt he goes to South Carolina. Would be absolutely shocked if he does not go to Miami
