Does Kevin Steele primarily run a 4-3 Defense? Seems like yall were able to get pressure on the QB on a regular basis.

Against LSU specifically he did something nobody was use to.

We spend most our time in a 2 LB nickel set, but our base is a 4-3 just rarely see it. Against LSU, we ran a 3-1-7 look which we did very well with to the point at least 2 other schools tried to emulate it when they played you guys.

I knew it was different, but couldn't remember the exact scheme. UGA and Clemson both tried it, I believe.

Only problem was it left us vulnerable to the run.

Edwards-Hellaire was the difference in that game, even moreso than Jeaux.

It worked against Burrow the first time because he hadn't seen it before and AUs DL was able to get some pressure (not as much as usual). You would only use it against a QB like Burrow, who is very accurate with his passes.

They tried it, but couldn’t anywhere near the pressure your DL was able to get. That’s why y’all were able to have success.

Yeah, it's tough, but you have to be able to get pressure with no more than 4 guys for that scheme to work. It really showed how good Brown and Davidson are. Otherwise, it's just too long for even 7guys to try and cover. Especially trying to cover guys that LSU had running routes.

Those two were absolute studs. Glad they’re gone
