For today’s history lesson we’ll rewind the clock back to November 4th, 1916 (back when UGAs glory days were still ahead of them).

Auburn and the mutts were locked in a defensive struggle on the muddy field of AJ McClung Stadium in Columbus tied 0-0. With time winding down in the 4th quarter, Auburn kicker Moon Ducote kicks a 40-yard field goal using captain Lucy Hairston’s leather helmet as a tee.The good guys win 3-0. (Probably this weekend’s final score as well.)

Afterwards the corrupt-a$$ officials implemented a rule that the ball must be kicked from the ground. Bet most of you didn’t know that the sec officials have been trying to keep Auburn down for well over a hundred years now.

To this day the win stands as one of the most Auburn wins ever.

If only there had been an SEC in 1916. But good story anyway.
