So, as the season wore on I was curious to see what it was like for the last three FBS opponents on our schedule by the end of the year.

SCAR:

First Half: 14 - 21
Second Half: 21 - 10

FSU:

First Half: 13 - 7
Second Half: 28 - 7

MICH:

First Half: 13 - 10
Second Half: 28 - 5

For our last three FBS opponents we outscored them 58 - 22.

What's important is that we have not been able to do that in the last decade since Mullen left, and it's one of the reasons I think we will beat most teams like Miami going forward. We still have a lot of work to do against teams like Mississippi State, LSU, Georgia and obviously Missouri, but I'm starting to see that our S&C will likely have an effect in more games going forward than our previous staffs.

I'm not sure if we were, but by Quarter:

1st: 0 - 14
2nd: 14 - 21
3rd: 21 - 31
4th: 35 - 31

If I missed the reference, forgive me.

Ah, we were down 14-0 in the first.

Tie it up mid 2nd. Scar goes up 7 before half.

Scar goes up 31-14 in third. Toney scores late in third.

We score 2x in fourth. So yeah, 14 & 17 point comebacks.

We also had a comeback against Vanderbilt.

We were losing 13 - 21 in the first half, second half it was 24 - 6.

I think Vandy was technically winning 21 - 3.

So basically between the middle of the second Quarter we went 34 - 6.

The Mississippi St game was a study in superior play calling by Mullen and Grantham. Moo St had a NFL DL and was a solid team.

Getting Franks to throw quick outs to wear out the Maroons (yes, Maroons...even in the 1960s they were called Maroons by a lot of folks...just as AU players were called Plainsmen back then and Tigers used less.)

That's what I think we're going to do with Miami, but I feel MSST was a vastly better team (and we were playing with those god accursed cowbells as the away team) than Miami.

I really think our S&C is going to be why we win that game, and is one of the reasons we will continue to improve year in and year out.

I think we are going to see a more physical team this year. Less injuries. Better depth in the trenches because the backups will be just as physical as the first team players. All of that will lead to more second half success.

2018 Moo State had their previous HC from 2017 bringing a new team into their turf and they sky high jacked. It kinda reminded me of 2012 when we had to travel to Texas A&M for their FIRST ever SEC game with ESPN Gameday on hand. We were sold out by the SEC as a sacrifice...only problem was we won the game with Driskels tough running and stout defense and ruined it for them.

When we played Mississippi State last season you could see that we had more talent, but MSST was simply the superior team. The only thing we had over them was the raw talent as I said and coaching and we managed to get out of one of the toughest places to play with a win.

If he could get a bottomfeeder like MSST to play like a West team, imagine when he has four years in the system with his own players.

Mullen's a fantastic coach, it's just going to be hard as he continues to repair the monumental problems created by previous administrations dating back ten years.

Savage can only make them stronger if they are on campus, so hopefully attrition isn't so high the next couple of years.

Even with the players that left it was still better than any class McElwain had outside of 2015. In fact, even after losing I think 4 Blue Chips Mullen still had more Blue Chips after the class of 2016.

We're fine, and a lot of people are freaking out way too early. Some of those JUCO guys will likely come back, hopefully. Really want Black to come back.
