I can't quite figure Chaney out

For starters, I think he's a brilliant offensive mind. But for the life of me I can't follow his logic......sometimes. We abandoned the run vs LSU, we suddenly found out that we have TEs vs UF. Faced a stout UF d-line and ran what seemed like a dozen goal line QB sneaks/inside the tackle plays to score. What happened to the Wild Dawg that helped us out in those situations last season (Rose Bowl). I don't disagree with just putting the ball into one back's hands on short ydg situations, especially with the line that we have. And it's easy for me to second guess, but what happened to the Wild Dawg? Why just now with the TEs? UF was stunting and blitzing all game. Why did it take so long for Chaney to adjust with quick hits or toss sweeps? Why no TO at the end of the first half? These are questions that keep me up at night.

-looked like he finally figure out that JAke likes to go no huddle. loved that adjustment.

- don't know why we havent ran it outside more this year.

- forgot about the Wild Dawg. That Mecole play in the Championship game....beautiful. Seemed like a good spot to put Fields in, or run PA. Think he tried to out testerone them, but it backfire.

- Holloman morphing into Wims was awesome. Hope that continues.

- Still too many wasted possessions in the first half.

- Loved seeing Jake run to convert a big third down.

- Swift in the open field is so much fun to watch. his little cuts are so deadly.

- Hopefully this game will be our catalyst to a great final quarter of the season on offense. Not sure the defense is talented/healthy enough to get us back to the playoffs, but lets get to atlanta with one loss and see what happens.

UGA deserves a hell of a lot more than Chaney. Let him be a position coach but for the love of all that is holy, can we get a real OC that can draw up and change gameplans and plays on the fly.

Was Mecole injured before that?

With regard to the goal line activity, do running backs no longer know how to jump? Of course it's hard to jump when the same UF plays is grabbing you unblocked over and over. But I miss this:

I have no idea how anyone could downvote this 3 times. I mean honestly what is chaney known for, or good at? Have we ever seen his playcalling win us a game? The SECCG against AU is the only time I've truly been impressed wiht a full game of his calls, and even that game was only beacuse we had to essentially do the 180degree opposite of what we tried to do the first game against AU.

Isn't that a good thing? You wouldn't want your OC being figured out by simple message board people, would you?

Yess he has some questionable calls...but we have been scoring a lot of points and enough good things since he has come aboard.

Offensive coordinator is a thankless job. Bobo wasn't held in high regard on Dawg message boards until after he left. Playcalling on offense is the easiest thing to nitpick and second guess by fans sitting on the couch. If you run 60-70 plays in a game inevitably you will have some clunkers.

What percentage of SEC fans can actually say right now "holy shite! I really really like our offensive coordinator?" It's just the nature of the job.

I know one thing, I hope he runs that Nauta offense some more. That was a thing of beauty

I think the true measure of a good oc is calling plays that the defense doesn't expect. You can make a good qb look bad by throwing on those "expected" throwing downs and vice versa. Cheney (and Bobo for that matter) seem to call plays right into what the defense expects. Hell, sit on your couch and see how many plays you can call before the snap.
Want to see how it works check out Perdue vs OSU. Check out Boston College vs Miami. Their defenses had no idea what was coming and they looked bad.

That big and that fast, he is difficult to tackle.

Needs to be the first option more often

Can’t remember an UGA receiver having 4 consecutive receptions in the last decade like Nauta did. It’s good we try to spread things around but I think we do it to a fault.

True measure is calling plays that are successful and utilize your team's strengths, and adjusting to what the D is giving you. You trying to tell me that Chaney fooled UF on that goal line stand, with multiple attempts. I think the guy is bright and thinks on a complex level. Maybe too complex.
