The ACC has 4 3 team pools with winner of each pool going to semis

Seeded as such:
Pool A: 1, 8, 12
Pool B: 2, 7, 11
Pool C: 3, 6, 10
Pool D: 4, 5, 9

Guaranteed 2 games and rest day for everyone. Single elimination Semi and Finals.

Makes for a worse tourney, but I think it better prepares for the regionals and helps bubble teams more. I would be all for it.

Also, move that shite from Hoover.

Actually wouldn't that be 2 games for everyone? The winners of the pools would play an additional 1-2 games.

I disagree about worse tournament. The SEC with Single Double Single Elon is a terrible tournament to watch.

It is and I changed it to 2 after realizing I typed it wrong.

Most fans like a more traditional bracket and not pool play. Think about the annoying tiebreakers when each team goes 1-1. We had the same issue on the Big 12. We did 2 pools of 4.

To me you play off ties start day early to end that. If no ties you got Friday off for everyone before Semis

We did that in MVC one year and the next year ties were broken by head to head then runs scored but it was 4 team pool. I am not sure how you’d play a 3 team pool out.

Yeah I'm a huge fan of group play, but only when the scoring makes sense for tiebreakers. Soccer is a great example. Baseball not as much.

To me the best way to do it is a Step tournament for a college post season qualification. It gives meaning for seeds and rewards higher and true winner basically

Winner of Qualifying tournament say 5-12 regular single elim plays
Team 4, winner plays team 3, winner plays team 2, winner plays Team 1 for Championship.

I didn't like the pod format at first, but I liked getting 3 guarantee games. Unless you're on the bubble, these tournaments don't mean much. No need wasting arms

How many games in the pool? Ex. What happens if all 3 are 1-1?

So, you're giving 1-seed a bye the whole tourney?
