Does everyone think I'm overreacting?

I was pretty critical on the scoreboard Sunday about the problems left over from the Florida game.

In particular:

*The glaring on field issues with not being prepared for snaps on defense.
*Disruptive rhythm in play calling late in the game. We obviously were trying to run clock and not be aggressive, and it disrupted our rhythm and we stopped moving the ball.
*Late in the game, we weren't throwing the ball, or have our best receiver in the game. Why?
*Clock Management

I think we have SEC talent now, and I give Stoops credit for that. However, the in game poor coaching decisions are becoming more obvious, and I don't see that changing at all, and am concerned it isn't going to.

So, am I overreacting?

It is a concern.

Now... having watched the South Carolina game y'all took the air out of the ball and smothered them late in the game.

That is a playing the odds sort of thing and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Not taking the air out of the ball can lead to what happened to A&M this year against UCLA.

Being lost on defense and clock management... Would you like a seat at the table Arkansas has been sitting at for several years? That is coaching.

We've gotten much better at not being completely lost on defense this year... our defense still sucks, but at least they tend to be sucking with what we called.

If these issues prove to be the thing stopping you from taking that next step forward then it might be time to bite the bullet and realize Stoops has taken you as far as he can take you.

Which is not a slight on Stoops mind you. Not every coach is going to win you 9-10 games in the SEC. The question is who do you get to replace him?

Ken Hatfield won 10 games for us his last year but his relationship was so poisonous with our AD that he left for Clemons without ever visiting that school.

Our next coach won 3 games his first season and was fired after losing to the Citadel in the first game of his next season. Do not fire your HC unless you have someone lined up that you are sure is a better fit. Because it can get a lot worse.

Thanks for all of this.

I don't want UK to fire Stoops at all, but I am concerned that his in game management isn't getting better, and feel like that for some coaches they have weaknesses they can't overcome, and this is one for him, and apparently everyone wearing headsets.

It's not like this is the first time this has happened, you can almost point to something in every game where a coaching blunder occurred. No one is perfect, but this pattern is indeed troubling, and it does make me wonder if he can get us to another level.

No worries. I understand where you are.

Stoops, unlike Bert, has really built a team from the ground up and done it well. That is nothing to sneer at.

Most of the coaches out there can't pull this off. What Stoops has done at Kentucky is impressive.

Can he get better? Yes, there are some mistakes he his making that he should not be making.

He has some flaws that are in the conversation... but... y'all are just a handful of plays away from staring down Georgia for the lead in the East.

I think this is long term issue with Stoops. You guys are on the cusp of moving to a 8-9 wins a season team. Let's see how you do this year. Y'all are getting better year by year.

8 wins this year would be great. Especially it if leads to 9 next year and 10 the year after. Lets see how things go.
