Having been to both, I prefer the Georgia version in every way.

I found it insulting
edit: whoops! I didn't watch the video in the original post. That's much better than the commercial that airs on tv.

But that's not the commercial. The commercial sucks and acts like Athens, GA is a giant mistake

Agree.
The video in the OP is just uga people putting uga stuff at the end, the actual commercial is kind of a slap in the face.

quote:It is a giant mistake if I'm trying to go goddamn Greece! I see this as Travelocity taking a jab at other booking services more than them shite-talking Athens, GA. They could have easily said Athens, TX but guess which one is more well-known.

sounds like user error to me.
but for real, it is kind of insulting in the given context. It'd be like saying "you went to a restaurant looking for steak, and instead got a hamburger". Are hamburgers good? Well hell yeah they're good. But in that sentence it's insulting to the burger because it's far less than what you were expecting.
The commercial makes it sound like instead of Greece you accidentally went to some podunk dump of a town that's barely on the map.

Yes, let's not act like travelocity put together the montage at the end. Those are all UGA Athletics footage that our video department puts out.

Haha whoops that's on me then. Should've known that Travelocity wouldn't actually paint Athens GA in a good light and such.
