Our lead up to signing day just got a LOT more hectic.

If we get Mason (and we can keep a few guys like Hand on staff) by the end of this week, I'm hopeful that a majority of our decommits will recommit. The good thing is that PSU is out or nearly out of open scholarships, so hopefully those that Franklin can't get a spot for will recommit.

The more I look at it, the more I hope it's Mason. Get him soon and stop the bleeding...

I'd agree. I know I mentioned liking Hand more and more, but he's still #2 to Mason. Morris worries me a bit just because gimmicky offensive minds can boom or bust, and I don't like the chance of busting. We're at too fragile of a cross-roads, I think, to risk it. Hopefully by next Saturday we can have him hired, announced, and on the recruiting trails with staff falling into place.

Add Rashad Canty, a 3* 6'4" 205 lb WR to the commitment list.

It's actually 9 now. It was an insane weekend for recruiting. Mason is a miracle worker.

9? I've seen 6 confirmed with some made but not announced, so the players name couldn't be released.

The folks on Vandy Mania say three haven't gone public yet

Cool. I hadn't heard a number on those who hadn't gone public. I REALLY hope we get Nifae Lealao. That would be monumental.

Two more: Offensive tackle Andrew Mike of Tucson, Ariz., and wide receiver Caleb Scott, a Vanderbilt legacy.
Mike, a 6-foot-7, 285-pound prospect, announced his decision at Sabino High, picking the Commodores over Arkansas, Florida and Penn State.
Scott (6-3, 185), the son of former Vanderbilt All-American and NFL receiver Chuck Scott, announced his decision Monday night on Twitter. He selected Vanderbilt over Texas Christian.

Great Scott! We got him! Ok, cheesy pun aside, that was a big get. The only downside lately has been not getting Trevon Lee. Andrew Mike is a pretty good grab. This class actually is shaping up to a somewhat respectable level, especially considering where we were a week ago.

Two more QBs today:
Wade Freebeck, 6-3 180 from Ft. Lauderdale, flipped from Pittsburgh to Vanderbilt.
Ronald Monroe, 6-2 175 from Richmond, Texas (near Houston) announced his commitment on CSS. He decommitted from Washington State last week.

I can't imagine us keeping 3 QBs. One will back out. I don't blame them though. 6 QBs on a roster is overkill unless Grady goes back to WR and Monroe changes position (listed as ATH too). Huge week to salvage a decent class.

Aaaaand one casualty already. Andrew Mike flipped to Florida. I'm not trying to be mean, but how committed are you if you're committed for less than 48 hours?
But hey, we picked up OT/DE Riley Tindol. He's not a real replacement, but he's a small town Alabama kid with only 4 "major" offers. Didn't we just have some small town Alabama guy without any other offers graduate? Was he any good?
