I don’t disagree at all. If this hire gets botched, it’s going to take many, many years for OU to recover. Oklahoma MUST find somebody that knows SEC ball and isn’t afraid of the competition. In the end, I think this will help OU in the long run. Riley’s teams don’t play the way you have to play week in and week out in this conference. We will see who gets hired and what culture can be established. But make no mistake, they must get this right

RILEY was on a downward trend as the Stoops impact on the team faded and it became Riley’s team and QB

2017 played Georgia close in playoff losing in OT...Baker from Stoops
2018 lost to Bama by 10 in playoff....Kylerrr from Stoops
2019 curbstomped by LSU in playoff...Hurts From Riley
2020 did not make the playoffs ...Rattler from Riley
2021 did not make the conference championship game ...Caleb from Riley

And this year the offense was crap....Riley was beyond his expiration date.....

Good, realistic post. Playing in the SEC is fun, but it's tough, as my Missouri team found out. But, hey, the Tigers found a way to win a couple of SEC East crowns. Your road will be determined by how the SEC realigns with OU and Tejas coming in. If you're lucky, Bama and Auburn go East, and OU and Tejas will take their place in the West, joined by Missouri, but it's hard to see that happening without Florida and UGA screaming foul! Another, more like scenario has the SEC splitting teams into 4 pods of 4 teams each.

I think all OU fans would agree with this. This is terrible timing as we are about to move to the SEC. Losing all of the recruits (and who knows how many active players) is going to be very tough. God, I hate the transfer portal as I believe most CFB fans do.

In the long run we will be fine as we will always pull our share out of Texas and especially the DFW area. The SEC effect has hurt us the last 10 years and that will dissipate.

In the short and medium run, things are pretty perilous.
